Why does blizzard not respond to appeals?

You actually are not, though. This is the customer support forum, designed and primarily operated by players to help other players.

There is some oversight by Blizzard employees and they can intervene in some account- and billing-related situations.

They otherwise have no involvement with game design or direction, and don’t communicate in this way with those that do. They aren’t tasked with passing messages on to the correct teams, as you are wanting.

That’s what the General Discussion forums are for.

This thread is genuinely a shooting-the-messenger thread right now.

Customer Support. This isn’t Customer Service, I’m afraid. This forum is specifically one for players to assist other players. It is not a contact point for any of the staff beyond our SFAs, and it’s not under their purview to relay feedback along. Feedback can be provided through the in-game suggestion and feedback tool, through your appeals tickets when resolved and the survey is offered. Or you can continue the discussion on your SOD General Discussion forum. All of those are valid places to have your thoughts on things reach the correct staff.

I just wanted to make sure to clarify because all the piling in on the Blue poster.

I am sorry folks are getting caught up in all of this and that the staff who should be more vocal on decisions made - aren’t.

And we understand this? Is anyone here demanding anything? No. We’re explaining our frustrations with the system and discussing it so perhaps in the future things are made more clear.

Like my question: “If gold trades are unsupported but allowed are we allowed to post in the forums for these trades? Yes/No? And if not why?”

And I quote from the stickied post from 2018 from a blue poster: “The Customer Support forum cultivates a beneficial relationship between our support departments and player community by providing a friendly environment where players can exchange information, access self-help resources, discuss in-game issues, and receive meaningful guidance through personal and fun interactions with Blizzard representatives.”

So I think we’re in the right place. Period.

Which isn’t what this forum is for. If you want to give your feedback, it’d be better to do so in another forum like general, as the Blues here have zero part in this matter.

You were saying?

Yes, but there also comes a time when the discussion simply becomes unproductive. I want to be able to keep this thread open, but lets everyone take a breath.

On the german classic forums you can find exactly this… a “gold trade” thread. Started in 2019 and is still going with 4k posts incl. at least 1 in blue.

That’s fair, where would be the place to ask my question? Because I’m honestly not sure where the best spot is to get it seen and an answer from Blizz.

“Gold trading is unsupported but allowed, are these types of trades allowed to be posted on in forums or in game to find people wanting to trade?” Because it is a grey area and blue posts in this thread said Discord is a ‘red flag’, so I’m just wanting to know what IS safe and IS allowed so people at least have a baseline to go from.

They do not take feedback here, If you want feedback you need the general forum

I know for years there was a TCG mount, pet, toy trading forum but I seem to remember it getting shut down, perhaps because it was unsupported trading in some cases. (It could be a thing again but to be honest I’m not even sure where it would be located now.)

Achievement forum.

As I mentioned, the General Discussion community forum. As it’s for SoD, the SoD GD forum specifically.

It isn’t a guaranteed chance to get an answer, but better a non-zero chance than a zero chance in the Support forums.

Ah yup that’s the one I remember, thanks!

No, I’d say advertising unsupported transactions would also to be unsupported. We wouldn’t host them on the forums so moderators should remove any that are reported to them. Similar to the gambling policies. It is technically allowed and unsupported. We actively prohibit folks from advertising their casino/gambling in-game and on the forums.

It is what I figured and I’m okay with that. But it causes a conflict with what was said earlier by a blue “Ask yourself- why is the person fronting for this transaction hiding in a discord server. Red flags are all over the place.” So if these discussions are not allowed on forums and might not be allowed in game (if treated like a casino which is also prohibited in game if I understand correctly) then why are they allowed at all?

The only option would then be discord to find people that want to trade gold if that was what a person was inclined to do and even there their was at least a system of reputation put in place to try and make trades safer. It of course is not foolproof given the recent suspension wave.

Like for me the solution is simple, I will never trade my gold outside of retail again, period. But I think this type of trades just needs to be banned because it is now being policed much harder than it has been in the past 10 years.

It’s really interesting that Blizzard seems to hold such a negative opinion on Discord. A vast majority of all WoW communication is via Discord. Blizzard themselves have often told players to visit Wowhead, who openly advertises and directs people to different Discord servers.

Also as someone who has traded gold between retail and classic, a Discord server with a review/vetting system in place is the ONLY place I would consider doing this kind of trade.

Just very strange to me that they would say “Hiding in a Discord server” when probably 90%+ of all WoW communication happens on Discord.

It’s because they can not track things said in Discord, like arranging a carry in Discord, but getting ditched with out discussing it in game. You get scammed, other player gets away, and Blizzard can’t help because that was also because unsupported.
