Why does Blizzard keep resetting my password?

It’s happened twice now in the last few weeks. Haven’t had to change my password in years, but now in the span of a few weeks, i’ve had 2 forced password changes. The only thing I can think of is my recent use of a VPN which I was led to believe should not be an issue. I also make sure to keep my VPN server in the same city so as to maintain a consistent enough IP location to avoid triggering just such issues as these but it seems to happen regardless. Or perhaps these password resets are unrelated? In which case I got no idea. In the meantime, i’ve switched to using Google’s account verification system to override Blizzard’s and that seems to work in bypassing battle.net.

Yes, yes, I have authenticator app on my phone etc.

If you use a VPN, they are allowed, but not supported, you would need to use the same exact node for each and every connection to Blizzard or run the risk of having to possibly reset your password to unlock your account. This is done for your protection as account thieves do exist, and they do not do nice things when they steal your account.

VPNs aren’t supported. They aren’t necessarily an issue for WoW - but they can be.

Typically you’ll run into fewer issues if you are consistent - either never, or all the time.
