Why does anyone play Alliance anymore?

I’m baffled as to why anyone would bother playing Alliance unless you are there to roleplay or you only do LFR and collect pets? Most players who play the game at even a casual pace like raiding normal or heroic play Horde, most players who PvP at any bracket play Horde, most players who do keys of any level play Horde. I couldn’t imagine gimping myself on purpose by playing with a smaller pool of players interested in actual gameplay by playing Alliance.

Because their investment hasn’t yet been outweighed by the difficulty of trying to play the game. Dw, they’ll give up sooner than later.

That’s why I don’t limit myself to playing one faction.

Most Alliance players I know don’t even play the game. They pay a monthly sub to have a chat room, RP and play dress up.

This probably sums it up.

Missing out on WoW’s gameplay is actually a benefit not a downside. WoW’s gameplay is pretty bad. Imagine caring about being a top end mythic raider or PVPer in 2021.

So you pay monthly to do what, since you don’t enjoy the gameplay.

Alliance is still perfectly functional for M+ levels that matter (see: 2-15) and Raiding prior to Mythic.

If you care about PvP a lot, I’d question staying on the Alliance.
If you’re searching for a Mythic Raiding guild, I’d question staying on the Alliance.

For everyone else? Yeah, play what you want, you’ll be able to fairly comfortably complete content either way.

While I am frustrated at Blizzards lack of action to combat the growing faction imbalance within the context of competitive play, I care enough about story, aesthetics, and general familiarity to stick with the Alliance as someone who does not raid above Heroic and does not care about PvP.

Like you said, roleplay, collect mogs, do casual low level PVP. Whatever I want to do.

Grinding FOMO content and having to play the stretched thin content like a job is not why I play video games. I’m not going to buy into the terrible legendary system, I’m not going to participate in whatever new system or bar they ask me to fill every patch.

Our Alliance raid group fell apart over the last few weeks and it was next to impossible to recruit replacements. Our raid leader and some others transferred over to Horde on another server.

Right now, getting into any pug is a nightmare unless its for content that I outgear substantially.

I totally agree.

Jesus Christ you’re ugly OP

To answer your question, I play Alliance because I hate myself, obviously

Loyalty? If I transferred to Horde I would feel like a US Marine suddenly quitting to join the Taliban.

The Taliban wishes it could achieve what the Horde have in-game

I play alliance mostly but do play the horde to see the other side of the story. This time there isn’t another side to see. It’s all the same. :slightly_frowning_face:

The OP is vastly exaggerating the state of Alliance play right now. The population difference only has a notable impact at the highest levels of play for any given pillar. It’s really perfectly fine for 90-95% of players.

Because they’re the underdog faction.

Because oceanic players exist?
