Why Does Alliance Turtle SPGY Every AV?

I’m excited to see the reaction to this question. Seriously though, what benefit do you gain by turtling SPGY in a clear loss almost every single game when it’s over an hour deep and kills aren’t even giving honor anymore? Seems like a massive hit to your honor per hour in an attempt to grief the evil “zug zugs”, when due to the queues, you’re hurting yourself more than you’re hurting us.

Horde won’t let anyone go south, what else you gonna do?

Fair point, doesn’t help that alliance has way more healers on average since paladins are basically useless outside of healing, games drag on way longer than they need to. Seems like it exacerbates the problem where horde pushes forward with more DPS and alliance can’t push because they have 6-10 healers and people eventually just burn out of mana and stagnate.

I do it to loot your gear farm rep, set off the druids then afk out.

I’m almost done the rep grind after that I won’t be doing it.

Because I won’t be in the instance.

This is kind of funny. Normaly a Horde forum troll will come in here at tell us to learn to fight and get gud. Your point is to just give up…thats new.

Doesn’t it seem logical to just end the suffering when literally nobody of 80 people is benefitting anymore?

What happens in WSG when a PUG faces a premade? The rez NPC gets bored

I just gave ya the logic, pay attention.

You account for one demographic, I’m glad you think your opinion is the de facto explanation for what every other person is doing. Good edit to take out the personal insult, by the way.

Apparently it isn’t logical for the horde. The more people you let south the less people there are to defend SP and the sooner it will all end… but there are always horde guarding the choke point to the last minute. Always people recalling as soon as someone sounds the alarm that a small group of alliance are down south…

Its basically a punishment if horde come back to recap gys and towers and guard LTs.

People end up afking out and fresh blood comes in.

And people ALLY side seem more concerned with rep over HPH so they will loot bodies for that final 30 minute free for all.

Well since half the team afk’s out once the druids are set off… I’d say I represent at least half or the majority.

End Discussion. The MAP is so ridiculously Horde favored that this is every game.

The rep grind sucked, I just finished getting exalted with all the cities from turn ins last week. Shouldn’t all the turn ins basically be exhausted by the 45+ minute mark, aside from armor scraps? By 30 mins, lok’holar is typically ready to summon, and the first 2 wing commanders already dead/set free.

I do think the situation of horde not letting anyone slip through makes it worse for us, though as many people have mentioned on the forums, it’s a product of having 1+ hour queues and needing to come out of the bg with 5500 bonus honor in order to feel like it was worth it.

Tell you want Griste… next game hit ur “M” button and see how many horde are down south. You will find ur answer very quickly.

There are a few big reasons for the SPGY turtle.

First of all, it’s the first strong defensive chokepoint for the alliance. SHGY is too open. In fact, it actually puts the defending alliance into a choke once the Horde push onto the flag.

Secondly, it’s the most efficient honor AND rep per hour for alliance players to turtle SHGY or SPGY until druids go out (and wing commanders if they made it), then AFK out. At that point, there’s no real rep to be gained and honor’s hitting DR. And the 15 min debuff is less of a problem than staying for another 30 mins in a lost game with minimal sources of rep or honor.

Thirdly, and related to the above, that means as people AFK, fresh blood comes in. If they’re there for rep, they may AFK out, but if they are there for honor, they have no DR yet. So they’ll join the turtle.

And fourth, the horde practice scorched earth in AV. So they guard that choke heavily and make it very difficult for any alliance to squeeze past. Most don’t bother trying. And, as Blizz cracks down on AFKs, people will spend their time half-assing on a defensive turtle rather than repeatedly die trying to get through the IWB choke.

To be honest, the Horde should summon Lok’holar ASAP if they want to end the game. He’ll sit around mid-field for about 5 mins before starting to push. Alliance tend to fold once he runs up to SPGY. So Horde should summon him ASAP every time. He’s also worth bonus honor or rep (can’t remember which) when summoned.

Is there no end to the amount of QQ we will see from horde when you already have a 95% winrate in AV? There is literally next to no reason for alliance to Q up for this garbage anymore and now you want to trash the handful who actually try?

You also forget this is a situation of your own making. Horde willfully drag it out to the 30 minute mark for the bonus honor.

0/10 Troll attempt all the way around.

They’re not turtling, they can’t get south easily. If you try to ride south then most times you’ll get killed on the way. Horde doesn’t want a turtle? Move aside and let Alliance go south.

Since there are no new accounts really being created in classic I strongly suspect this battleground will be a ghost town in a few phases.

And I couldn’t be happier!

That’s why I do AV for the reputation almost everyone is only in there for it.
