I started warlock in catackysm after playing around on my at the time mage main. I saw how fun affliction looked and since I had missed it’s mark on wotlk, I wanted to try a warlock in Cataclysm, and I never turned back.
At that time warlocks were so well balanced and demonology demon leaping in front of you and being able to take melee damage and unstealth rogues with hellfire were some of the most fun times I had.
The feature I like most is our ability to fear and well our ability to cast DoTs. Even demonology had DoTs that were actually useful once. Summoning infernals and doomguards was also a lot fun. Shame that was taken away. Most of the things I loved about warlock are mainly removed or a shell of its former version.
Once an adventurer who studied the dark arts, I gained reputation and respect from various enough leaders to now fight alongside them. No longer having to hide under the Slaughtered Inn.
– Mainly a dark caster whos powerful. The dark aspect is why im drawn to warlock, and the playstyle, even though its not as good as it once was is what still makes it my main despite the changes we’ve undergone.
Theres literally no class I can commit to except warlocks. Literally level them for fun because it’s just a great idea.
honestly its just because the gameplay is relaxing and easy. Button mashing melee specs get annoying after a while
I have ultimate nostalgia tied to this toon because this was the first ever character I made when I started this game on a 14 day trial disc back in BC. He began his humble life as Undead, since I always wanted an Undead Warlock after reading all about WoW on their old Vanilla website.
Nowadays I stick with him because I still love the class fantasy, and the gameplay is fun.
I’ll be honest, I’m a warlock main cause I’ve played warlock since vanilla…
A better question is do I enjoy it… no… current warlock specs are horrible…, literally only stay as warlock cause I’ve invested 15 years of my life in one character…
And with shadowlands changes or lack there off, looks like another expansion of hating myself.
well affliction looks promising
We went from spamming UA to spamming Malefic Rapture… literally nothing else has changed… it’s the exact same…
Every Alpha tester on Warlock has also mentioned bringing curse backs is useless PvE wise cause it’s on the GCD and it’s better off not to use it…
I’m sorry but I’m just so upset with shadowlands for warlocks years of asking for changes, Demo with an interrupt comes to mind… for them to say Destro and Demo are in a good spot…when both specs rely on Azerite traits/essences to be close to viable.
I love the DoT style Affliction is or should be. Even in BFA here, despite being a heavy burst, it still has a lot of dotsss. More dots, more dots, throw more dots.
I’m not sure I get what you mean by this: do you mean feature like in general, or feature like…just BFA wise? I guess if in general it would be the ability to drain tank some stuff? I also love the soul well, as it gives a use for everyone since…who doesn’t like cookies?!
I really want the entire damage kit for Affliction to be nothing but DoTs and a single drain.
I started Warlock in BC as an alt to my Rogue. Ended up playing my Lock that Arena Season(Sl/Sl was fun!).
I like Warlock because we are Mage with style and edge.
I used to like warlock because of the Rot / Tank style of game play… This was back before dots started to tickle and self heals could out heal dots. Now i dabble with my lock, mainly as Destro, just tinkering around with fun chaos bolts.
I love the self shielding leech style of game play. I’ve always thought Leech was a fun mechanic, for any class that I play on.
I always imagine when i’m playing a warlock that i’m a power hungry, will stop at nothing sorcerer, who will twist people, and force demons to do my bidding. Basically Warlocks stop at nothing to get what they desire.
Man how i wish they would make affliction, or dots in general, hurt again… In no world should any class, that isn’t a healer, be able to out heal my DOT, or DOTS.
I saw people streaming the alpha of Shadowlands and the affliction play style of ‘more DoTs’ appeals to me a lot. Currently I have 20 hours playing this 110 boosted character and I’m having a lot of fun getting ready for the expansion.
There is a lot of versatility in the class with spells that have nothing to do with damage as well. Putting down a soulwell, saving a soul with a stone, summoning portals, commanding undead, breathing in water, banishing demons, and making teleportation gates give a ton of utility. I feel like I bring more than just my damage to any group and that isn’t even getting in to having pet versatility for ranged interrupts or other options besides just ranged DPS.
My class fantasy goes back to an NPC witch doctor who I always felt was more a warlock than shaman- Zalazane. I remember fighting that NPC and thinking if there was anyone who would push boundaries and cross over to the other side, it would have been him. I know my character is very close in appearance to that NPC, but I think it is because I just remember my early days of playing and in Legion I got very tired of seeing Gul’dan.
I started playing Warlock, specifically Demonology, in December 2004, and it’s been my main from then until Legion destroyed Demonology purely to make room for a class that didn’t even USE the demonic caster. Warlock is no longer my main in playtime, but it’s the first class I always check on with patch notes/expansion news, hoping that things will change for the better unfortunately.
None really. It’s a shell of what it used to be. Which saddens and angers me frankly.
Caster willing to go to any length whatsoever to get what she wants, even if it costs her soul or the souls of those she cares for.
Rolled a Warlock at the start of WOTLK
I enjoy the atmosphere of the class
I want to do so much more with this class and have way more outcomes…great power but great risk.
Because I love demons and abusing demonic power.
Summoning an army of demons and, err, abusing demonic power (i mean fel, with destro spec)
Commanding a small army of demons. The class order hall in Legion was fantastic to me.
The class is far from perfect and I’d love to see Destro and especially Demo be a lot less clunky to play but, thematically, I love the direction they both went. Though Demo could stand to get more demons and pet interactivity.
No comment on Aff as I don’t play that
It hurts how much I relate to this.
Same here (but less time invested (MoP-baby)). It’s hard for me to drop a class I use to enjoy a lot when I initially started playing the game. Now it’s just a shadow of it’s former self with me hoping Blizzard will listen and give us back some of our flavor we’ve lost since WoD.
The sad thing is, this problem is way to common
People still play warlocks…?..jk there is no point in bringing a lock when dh/warriors/outlaw pretty much anything else can do twice the damage with half the effort. I loved my lock but instead of going thru another expansion of trash teir garbage they call lock i just rerolled and saved my self the frustration
I chose mage over lock way back when because warlocks were too evil for me. It probably would have been easier leveling for me back then if I had chosen the lock lol
Dude underwater breathing and faster swim speed is my favorite ability on lock!
