Why do you like the Amani?

So I had an argument with some friends on our discord who seemed rather nasty comments on those triple wronged tribe and I am here to fix some stuff and make sure for the rest of the community.

Tell me in a few words or sentences why you adore this special former troll empire so we can finally settle if we see them as misunderstood or villains?

Cheers ahead for a fruitful discussion.

I do not like them but I feel their story needs to involve a few beats where they’re not the complete villains because I feel like even bad civilizations deserve the right to their homelands, and “the savages are evil for defending their lands” is kind of gross imo. Zul’jin had every reason to be enraged with the belves but also ruined a solid chance at getting back most of their lands by default by not playing ball with Thrall in the post-scourge era and letting the internal clans bicker and infight.

Sorry, I’ll amend the previous paragraph a bit. I do like the Reventusk a lot. Practicality in the face of legitimate historical grievances is extremely rare in this setting.

Amani are my favorite tribe for real and I am mad we got the Zandalari before them.

I just don’t like the “how dare the natives defend their land” narrative, absolute 1800s ah narrative

The Amani date from an era when the writing was more nuanced and every side had a point.

They’re not my favorite troll tribe, though—that would be the Drakkari. They can make a comeback someday, right? Right?

An undead Drakkari empire would be pretty cool. Could have them even finally subjugate the local scourge forces as a meat shield

Nostalgia from playing Warcraft 2: Tides of Darkness. It was the first Warcraft game I played, and the Amani were the Forest Trolls we played. I became a fan of all the Horde races, and while the Revantusk tribe can give us the playable Forest Trolls I want, I would prefer a more positive note for the tribes. Which is why I want to have that Forest Troll tribe union, at the very least with the Amani and Revantusk finding common cause and uniting under the Horde.

They fit my politics.

I like them because they are the perfect villains. Shortsighted, always making dumb decisions, and constantly shoot themselves in their foot and find someone to blame. /s. Lol. I can’t wait for them to be wiped out and turned into a goblin themepark.

For me, they sucked as villains. :robot::-1:

Potential stories about this unknown Dark Loa and infusing a phoneix is a scary idea worth bringing back Vol’jin or Kael’thas depending on story elements. Likely i’m just coping at a better image for the tribe. :memo::robot:

Supposedly the Drakkari scattered becoming necromancers collecting Azerite. That can make them dangerous. :robot::sweat_drops:

Hello friend, my you smell like strange fish, where have you been? Is that too personal of a question? No matter, how can this one help you?

Ah yes, the Icetusk, a most curious tale of a small tribe.

They resisted the Lich King’s promises and set out on huge canoes to find salvation.

And yet, all they found was hardship and despair. In dark times, they turned to necromancy, and thus the tribe has lived on, but only barely. A sad tale.

Oh! I fished this up this morning, it is yours if you like.

I like the Amani because Zul’Jin cut his own arm off to escape captivity and that’s metal as f*

Thanks you marked it as sarcasm

I just think that, like the Horde, they’re being held to one hell of a double standard. Which might have interesting if they ever actually acknowledged it.

I like them because they give bear.

If not friend, why friend shaped?

Amani not wanting the remnants of the brutal nelf empire that had their foot on the Amani’s neck to set up shop next door: EVIL

Nelves attempting to murder the warsong without giving a single warning after noting that they know they’re just refugees trying to get resources: SLAY QUEENS!

(that’s also ignoring how dumb the nelves were in retrospect given later lore had them know exactly how dumb ticking off a clan of orcs was due to the WOTA and the Wardens being billed as globe trotting rangers who knew what was going on everywhere)

it very much is

I wonder if Zul’jin and Kargath would’ve been friends if they ever met.

Since they both cut off their arms to escape captivity. Imagine Zul’jin with a bladed hand.
