There’s not a single essence obtained from professions.
How does someone getting an essence affect you in the slightest?

Why can’t I earn them as a player? Why am i not entitled to essences once i’ve done the grind as a player?
This is a game, i’ve done the time, what does it matter that sometimes I want to heal, or tank or shoot frost beams, or afflict people with dots, or sometimes i’m feeling like smashing peoples face with 2handers. It’s still me who did the grind.
I switched main in 8.3, grinded all rank 3 on my rogue almost to a burnout just so I could raid with the guild progression team. I have time to do this maybe 1-2 more time before SL releases. Why ? Why does it matter if I can play 12 characters at the same level and have fun? Why can’t I have fun with this game after i’ve done the grind? How am I not entitled to essences as a player?

But my unplayed alt is ilevel 340… the alt doesnt do ANYTHING. And he would stay like that for the rest of the season. And he is covered by your Essence Wide Request. Is it okay to give all my Rank 3 Essences to him? Is it fair?

What? I don’t care that my alt is more progressed than your main. I really don’t, at all. I progress my character because I like to. Yes it feels good to have a geared character, but not for that reason.
Essences are part of gear, an artifact quality neck piece. It’s really asking for account wide gear, which, is a ridiculous thing to want. It’s why the team (and Ion) haven’t even bothered to give it a reason when they do Q&A’s. Because it doesn’t need one, it’s outlandish and crazy to think of BoA essences.
It would be like asking for account wide legendary cloaks in MoP, or account wide legendary rings in WoD, it just doesn’t make any sense.
And the funny thing is there are already many catch up mechanisms in place for essences already.

Yes, take the essence. Be my guest, it will help with your DPS a bit, but you will die in assaults and horrific visions because of your 150k HP. Essences doesn’t help with that. You can beam every minute or so, but you still have to grind up your gear yourself, this is the fun of the game, gearing up.

Show me where I can go grind current dungeons and raid and get all the essences I need for my class? I’ll wait. Not many essences drop from dungeons and raids like gear. IF it dropped like gear does? I wouldn’t be here.

You really care that much?
You can easily get Rank 1 Essences everywhere. That’s okay. What’s not okay is getting your noob alt with LOL Azerite gear with LOL HoA Level but with complete Rank 3 Essences.
What’s wrong with wearing Rank1 Essences with your lowbie alt? Does he need M+10 completed? THE ALT DOESNT NEED IT.

My alts are decently geared, the lowest of them is 432ilvl, azerite drops from world quests can be really good, all their neck piece is around lvl 70, they all have at least rank 1 cloak (waiting on catch-up to level faster). My alts aren’t noobs, because I’m not a noob. I’m the player, learning a class doesn’t take long, raid and dungeon mechanics are the same for everyone.
Maybe they don’t NEED to run the higher level content, but to me that is where the fun is, and i WANT to run the harder content on all of them. But right now the only thing holding back my DESIRE to play those alts is the essence grind. Not ANY other grind.

That is why it should not be implemented. You want your 50x alts to have rank 3 Essences of your Main. And you said it yourself… you wont run them on high level content.
Why not make 1 alt… make it your main? You would have ample time to grind your Essences up all to Rank 3. The reason why you are crying becoz you need to grind for all your 50 alts… not 1 alt… you want all your 50 alts to have it. Keep on dreaming. LOL.

That’s the point of account-wide essences, it’s not for people running 2-3 character in end-game. It’s for people with MANY alts that enjoy to play ALL classes indiscriminately and have fun doing so. Why does it bother you that some people like to play many characters? what does it change to YOUR main that I can provide multiple tanks, multiple healers and multiple DPS for ALL The groups I join? Don’t you want more people like me? Always have a useful role to play? Missing a tank? I have 3 to chose from, thats 3 raid group I can help alone. I have 4 healers, thats another 4 raid group I can help alone. If everyone had easy alt access, we wouldnt have such a bad healer/tank shortage. If I had those essences, the majority of my alts would clear heroic raids almost weekly.

No, because that would mean my alts would have access to pretty much all level three essences as I have all but three of four on my main. Yet I still don’t think they deserve such access and am fine with having to earn them on my alts. It would be nice if there was a catch up mechanic for the pre 8.3 ones but otherwise I am fine with the current method of earning them.

Because it is a required power utility in this expansion. You will not be as efficient in your 455ilvl gear, rank 12 cloak and rank 1 essences trying to push heroic. And I don’t know about you but I like to be efficient. Just don’t have time to grind 2 months on EACH ALT for their rank 3 essences

Oh I’m not disputing that. I’m just wondering why someone would waste their time posting nothing of value to the topic. It’s clear that person doesn’t like this topic but comes in and posts anyway. Seems incredibly hypocritical.
Also I want to make something clear.
If we don’t complain about this today, Blizzard is going to pull another one of this anti-alt mechanics on us in the future. This is feedback we are discussing, maybe it won’t happen in BFA.
But we sure as hell don’t want this to happen in Shadowlands and future expansions. This voice need to be heard.

They are well aware of how some in the community feel about essences. They have discussed it at least twice already in their weekly twitch stream and are pretty steadfast on their stance. I mean if voicing your disagreement actually worked, pathfinder would have died about 6 years ago.
