They do this to specialize in one class. I think it’s silly because what happens when that spec gets nerfed and now you have to reroll. It’d make more sense to make a bunch of different classes so you can always play what’s good
rwf raiders do this because it’s a race
pvp players do not because seasonal rating is not a race
the reason most people i know duplicate their main spec as an alt is so that they can play more games more relaxedly, without feeling a pressure to maintain their cr
some of this
there’s def people that care about win/loss and games played on their main/alt that have other characters to send with people they don’t regularly queue with or people that aren’t as good as them
mostly this
at a certain people when you’re basically at the mmr ceiling for the given point in the season sending the 200 games a week you wanna play on one character feels a little less rewarding than it would if you were progressing while doing it
making an alt and sending it qing at the same mmr you’d be qing at anyways and progressing cr adds a secondary level of serotonin forsure
sort of
in the past people would leapfrog characters so they were always queueing the lower rated one making losing rating less mentally taxing which mechanically does prevent tilt tanking on some level forsure
there’s def players who have like 5 of the same class that feel like earning 5 titles on the same class playing the same comp in the same season makes them better for some reason
PVPers 100% do this. You literally have no chance in pvp right now vs someone with tier set bonus. You forget that most high rated pvpers like stomping noobs and you cant do that when everyone has the same gear so they resort to vault farming in order to get tier set first and farm people for a few weeks.
I understand people have their reasons but it’s always pretty annoying facing someone on their 4th same-class same-spec alt when their “main” and other 3 chars are at 2800+.
A: in team games you do, shuffle is still a mid-rollout feature and barely matters
B: this isn’t universally true, i’m sure i’m not the only spec whose tier is mid
yeah i’m just gonna talk about you more than to you here
this is a conviction based in delusion. maybe if “people who bought rbg 2100 in shadowlands” is what you mean by high rated pvpers
There is no point in pushing rating this early in the season. Having multiple characters that you know how to play well has a variety of benefits. Trying to learn how to PvP on a whole other class is hard.
see, this is what i am thinking. It seems so ridiculous to have 4-8 characters - unless there is a real motivation. I could understand 1-2 top players doing it, but it seems there are many players - EU considered here too - doing this…
