It’s a mind bogling question. I have never known a player that does not prefer to fly.
I see some forum posts, and assume that group is very vocal. 100% of players that I know iRL and guild prefer flying.
I even prefer flying for WPVP. Of course I’m not OP and need to escape more often than not. I think it’s a fun part of WPVP.
I would prefer a system that gives everyone flying six months after expansion launch. Those that completed pathfinder get it free, those that didn’t do pathfinder should need to pay out 100,000 gold to skip pathfinder at revered, but still be required to get honored pathfinder rep. This is what I think is the best option. It also isn’t a free pass.
Some zones should remain ground mounts only. Like Pandaria and Legion had.
Maybe that’s where the difference of opinoin stats. I don’t think leveling in classic is “Work” It’s a game a play to enjoy myself. It’s not like the current iteration of WoW where everything is at end game. The leveling is a huge part of the game meant to be enjoyed.

I do not mind flying. However, there are very few places where flying is hazardous. Considering how hazardous ground travel is (hazardous meaning opponents that aggro and can even dismount players), flight should have the same issues. Pandaria is a perfect example where flocks of “red” birds abound, but they ignore those flying. If they aggroed as they should, the would make flying in those areas hazardous.
Another way to look at it … flying is a safe space. Change that aspect, or put in more paths on the ground without hazards, and it would be equitable at least.
WM ‘ruins’ WPvP too.
As far as communication…thats on PLAYERS, not flight. Flight literally has NOTHING to do with our interaction in this game.
I can be flying in Org and talk all I want to anyone in chat.
They seriously need to try harder on this one.
They dont like it because theyre mostly old classic players who cant let go of the past.
I would LOVE it if theyd give this PF crap a rest, put flight in from the start and then make flight more dangerous.
My most memorable deaths…really the ONLY ones i can remember…were being shot down off my mount, either by a hunter with murder of crows…or NPCs.
It’s not a matter of opinion though. Maybe your personal enjoyment of world pvp declined, but that is not what people are commenting on. WPvP participation did not suffer from the introduction of flying, straight up.
The two things that caused the largest decline in world pvp participation were: BGs and server faction imbalances.
That is a flaw i see with blizzards current view on when the game should be enjoyed. At the moment the leveling process with retail wow is something to skip over and the endgame is the main goal, when every part of the game should be enjoyable. This might change with shadow lands when they squish the levels and allow anyone to level where they like, but it might just enforce that mindset even more.
I don’t think that most people hate flying they are just a echo chamber for Blizzard. If Blizzard came out and said they hate X they would follow along like sheep and hate it too.

My favorite complaint people use is echoing the devs’ “It ruins immersion.”
Because grounded dragons and helicopters and druids suddenly unlearning flight form is immersive.

Dev/Bliz shills for the most part, with some true believers here and there. Flying didnt become an issue until blizzard made it one. Simple as that. In fact when Wrath first launched there were a lot of people not happy about learning flying again.

I don’t hate it at all, I can (and am) living without it on some maps. I make no effort at all to earn it but use it where I can. Paying for the skill like it was originally introduced is fine by me as gold is wildly easy to come by. Once they introduced pathfinding I no longer bothered. I have stumbled into it on a map or two but for the most part simply stick to ground mounts. It just isn’t anything I care enough to bother working on as it has zero impact on my gaming.
I agree, they say the world is dead with flying but I don’t think people can do World quest and open world content from the air. They still have to land and do it. Flying from point a to point b on our flying mount is not that much different than using the whistle a flight plan and running 50 yards to the nearest objective

Boy World pvp in classic is literally dead I have no idea why your even talking about it.
Not to mention, when I fly I have total control of my character as opposed to teleport, autofly, and go get a sandwich.

People hate flying because it makes world PvP harder and because it empties the world.
I’m just happy to not have people running through armies of mobs hoping they don’t get dazed thanks to flying. Also, it’s the closest thing I can get to a pause button outside of stealth actions in case I need a quick break.
Though it’s important to make sure One isn’t lumping people defending pathfinder, or at least some part of it, into the “hate’s flying” crowd. That’s just being dishonest.
Really? Show my some sources.
Well if you don’t want to wpvp you don’t have to. Turn warmode off. It’s really easy.
That’s my biggest issue with the immersion topic. Why is it that my Dragons forget how to fly without explanation but Bob the Quest Giver has a pet Gryphon that can fly me around a quest objective without an issue.

Usually it’s either jealousy or unwillingness to work for it. It’s easier to just rant.
Something something air currents?
At least, that was the excuse for Northrend, then they just named it after the next two expansions. Then they moved on to pathfinder which scales indefinitely with alts, but demands a little more input beyond playing the AH.
