Why do realms still exist?

Make 2 mega “realms.” One PVP and one PVE. Turn on Sharding on all versions of the game.

Stop with your ridiculous greedy crap. The sanctimonious sanitization of anything not reeking of hypocritical empathy towards whatever is COMPLETELY OVERRUN BY YOUR INABILITY TO BALANCE POPULATIONS VIA TECH YOU HAVE AND INSIST ON SERVER TRANSFER PAYMENTS IN BOTH RETAIL AND CLASSIC.

How about actually caring about your customer base? TBC server factions and server populations are a complete disaster. Retail populations are insanely screwed up as well. Why not just use what you already have and be logical for what shard people exist on based on what you are doing or who you are with?

I think the majority of the player base would be really ticked off if they did this.

I think creating ONE merged mega server would be a good idea…

No need to create a PVP server when everyone can just turn WM on

Of course they would need to change the name restrictions and sharding to accommodate

With only 3 posts, I’m guessing I know what kind of thread this is. However, realms still exist because servers and their databases have limits. Even with sharding/layering, your idea would be very bad.

One big server with no sharding. Chaos. 3 week login queues. Absolute rage inducing mayhem. PvP always on.

They can keep the servers seperate behind the scenes while still providing a merged user experience.

They are already doing it with connected realms and CRZ…so this is really just adding more connections behind the scenes

Maybe instead of 1 mega server make an east coast/west coast to keep pings lower

Absolutely not. Sorry, but this game isn’t as dead as you think it is. I don’t want to be on a server with over a million players. And YES it will be well over a million and be millions for next expansion.

I wouldn’t go as far as to say 1 but they really need to merge a bunch more. Yes merge not join. The list of servers is way too big. Names are an easy fix.
If they clash then leave them with their original server after them and offer both a free name change. Leave the server name up until one person take it. Done. Your welcome blizzard. I’ll take my fee in in game gold please.

So, this is spam…

Daily statement. Ghost towns everywhere. Retail and classic. The second M in MMO is for multiplayer.

Multiplayer is shorthand for multiple players. The current situation is not multiple players. More than half the servers are ghost towns.

Merge the servers.

Not what I meant. Either willfully obtuse or incapable of understanding.

The mega server is sectioned. The “realms” are shards created algorithmically. Pops are rebalanced across shards constantly with a default “on” being with your guild. In a populated city.

This isn’t new tech. It’s already in game. It’s actually more exploitable as it stands now for things like herbing.

I’ve been saying for years we need one mega sever for each region

You know my idea was the same

But there would also have to be one RP PVE and one RP PVP and preferably one of each of these types covering all the time zones Blizz currently covers in game.

However, no merging :-1:

Free transfers to the mega realm and leave current realms right where they are

There is a matter of over flow of population if there are one merged server and resources balance issues even with a phased pvp server it’ll still be considered one server.

Actually, they should just make one realm for each style of play, RPPVP, PVP, RP, PVE. I doubt they have enough active subs now to fill all the various realms.

Semper Fi! :us:

With all the players quitting, I doubt even Area 52 would have queues if a new expansion launched right now.

PVP servers don’t even exist anymore.
