Why do people want World of Warcraft to be realistic?

Yeah, if your machine is upgradable (lots of people running laptops with soldered SSDs these days), a good high capacity SSD is such a worthwhile investment. It’s awesome to be able to hundreds of gigs of stuff all at blazing speeds.

The Unreal Engine fanart folks do is impressive, but WoW being cartoony is the reason I enjoy it more than others.

I’m something of a chronic tinkerer and one of the things that’s been on my list for a long time is to create a little diorama of a WoW zone in Unreal, but using a more Warcrafty artstyle instead of the generic “realistic” asset store stuff that usually gets used. I think it’d probably look great. There was one dude a few years back who pulled unmodified Dalaran into Unity and applied higher fidelity lighting to it and even that was pretty good looking.

The weirdest part about those who confuse art style with engine is that Fortnite is Epic’s flagship game.

Haha, right? Fortnite is one of the most unapologetically cartoony games in existence, I think only Team Fortress 2 is more cartoony.

If WoW EVER loses its cartoon graphics it wouldn’t even BE WoW anymore. I for one ADORE the cartoon style. So many games today are focused on having realistic graphics and…honestly I think those games are a dime a dozen. The cartoon graphics MAKE WoW what it is, im willing to die on this hill!
