Why do people want World of Warcraft to be realistic?

I wasn’t aware people did.

That looks like it could be a scene from 500 different games.

It wouldn’t be WoW.

Without the cartoony aspects of Warcraft it’s just generic fantasy game #342 in a long list of forgettable stuff.

While I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize my account, I do agree with the sentiment that WoW’s current cartoonish graphics are, in my opinion, superior to realistic-looking graphics.

That and infinitely more bugs.
So, so many bugs.
A crawling ocean, even, breaking waves on shores of chitin, creeping upon roaches bathing in the light of a firefly sun.

I don’t think there has ever been too many complaints about the art team. Of course it is annoying that they are just recoloring mounts and packaging them as new, instead of coming up with new unique ones, but I don’t place the blame on the art team. They have always done a nice job in this game.

Ya, I’m with others here, there really are no complaints about the art design. Graphics get a bit better as the years go by yet it stays the same, good job all around.

The only realism that some may want and I’m pushing it here, is things like when you mount a flying mount it can fly. How does doing pathfinder teach me or my mount how to fly when we already can fly everywhere else… Just the weird unreal logic behind some of the design type stuff.

wow is already forgotten by 80% of the people who knew about it 15 years ago

Human desires to make it reality to fill a fantasy to the upmost, this is why people wish to be nude etc. it is no different than going to an adult store. What’s your groove?

i can legit play wow in a 1050 ad 8gb memory in a dual core. Since legion.
I can count in my fingers how many games it is possible lol.

There was someone yesterday that said he was still playing on a 780.

I mean I wouldn’t want to, but I guess it is possible.

The very last thing I ever want in a game is realism. Games are about escaping reality to enjoy some alternative fantasy land, not to grind out some sort of second life in.

Realism over style is how you set an early expiration date for your graphics. What looks great at launch is not going to keep the human eye tricked for very long - especially with how fast technology is advancing. For a genre that is supposed to go on for years you can’t afford to dump everything into The Next Gen.

ESO isn’t looking too good these days.

Every now and again someone does one of those unreal engine videos of a WoW zone and one or two ask for WoW to look like that.
Of course none of the unreal videos have actual npcs or characters of any kind in them, it’s just the zone itself devoid of life.

:man_shrugging: You clearly have some sort of animosity towards WoW’s current graphic stylings. Not sure why, but fortunately for most of us the art team is pretty solid at Blizzard and has been consistent with their aesthetic over the years.

Because a lot of the newer crowd probably want a GPU benchmark game and think what better place

:dragon: :ocean: :cloud: :mountain: :dragon: :ocean: :cloud: :mountain:

i mean it retains 60 fps in this setup in anything thats it not epic battlegrounds. And even then it dosnt take long to stop freezing.
Quite fantastic in my opinion.

Yeah I was running a 1080ti before I got my new laptop with a 2070… definitely got the job done.

I think most people aside from the ones who post “WoW in unreal 5” are fine with it. I wouldn’t mind some texture updates to the origami trees and other early stuff, but to current standard only.

Time to remove all the playable races except humans if we gonna be realistic.

I would argue that wow being very surreal is exactly why people’s brains tend to accept it despite having almost zero commonality with RL. I know I like it for that, saturated colors I can’t see anywhere else and whatnot make my day tbh. It’s the little things. The over the top things have their place but aren’t necessary for a good time. A spicy time, perhaps.
