Why do people think Chris metzen can change the narrative of WOW?

Because you can always trust a man with a beard.

It had the right tone, and the right aspects of world building.

And the sub numbers proved it.

I still agree with the article and the underlying reasons why the company is failing. You can see it across the AAA industry. Its why people are loving japanese developers right now (because they dont have the left wing zealots there infecting their companies with DIE and ESG B.S.)

Its symbolism over substance. Blizz leadership thinks bringing back an old school guy will cause people to trust them again.
He wont fix the game because he cant. The leadership of Blizz wants to go in the wrong direction and no one can turn that ship except a new leadership team with the opposite goals.

Yes, yes, we get it. You don’t like progressive themes in video games.

But your argument about the success of Japanese game developers is interesting, because they are not all doing that great. For example, the biggest one, Square Enix, lost $2 Billion in value recently.

You do have a point, and OP has a point too… but I want to believe everything will work out and be fantastic. I have a lot of faith in the devs, even if I have no faith in the corporate side of the gaming world.

Luckily, with the advancement of AI and the further invention of developer tools incorporating this technology,

the size required for AAA games will drop, and smaller, independent and more agile studios will be able to scoop up the playerbases being underserved by these bloated companies.

Hopefully the coming recession will cut out a lot of deadweight and give us better products going forward.

Neither you nor I have any idea at all of just what degree of power he has now, or might have in the future. A title means nothing, especially when we don’t know how much influence his ‘advice’ carries.

  • Woke California workplace policies driven by the moral panic of the #metoo movement and the fetishization of Black Lives Matter propaganda have transformed Blizzard into a dreadful feminist-run penal colony that drives away talented straight white male developers.
  • Activision-Blizzard developers must attend diversity, equity, and inclusion workshops and Maoist struggle sessions where they are told to hate white men and promote so-called marginalized communities

Ya think?!

Yeah, no kidding. I’ve only heard about websites like that in Reddit horror stories, so I’m blown away that someone actually referenced it as a source. lol.

But I guess that it explains a lot of what the person who posted it says on the forums.

A necromatic skin-suit mouthing falsehoods all in the service of Greed is a fitting summary.

Take five seconds to think about it. Blizzard Entertainment, a subsidiary of Activision-Blizzard, one of the US’s great Kings (kek) of Unfettered Capitalism, is forcing Maoism down employee’s throats.

I can’t fathom how terminally online you have to be to come up with that. Homeboy hasn’t touched a blade of grass in years.

People hate you when you’re current then become all nostalgic when you’re gone.

Take Ghostcrawler for example. I remember when he was in charge of whatever, people called him the Antichrist.

Now that he’s gone people say he’s the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Nah some of us hated his ideology (didnt hate him personally) then and still do

“Git Gud” & “Bring the player not the class” dont belong in MMORPGs - itxz like he never understood why people flocked from EQ to WoW

That’s a straight line, I think you can handle it.

socialism does to government what capitalism does to business, capitalism was only created to fund the enaction of the “plans” of the 20th century.

not shocking at all.

Because he began the narrative of Warcraft? Seems simple logic.

It’s like how everyone wished Stan Lee was alive still so the Marvel movies wouldn’t have gone down hill after he passed.

Stan had some good ideas… but people forget he’s the reason it almost failed too.

The 90’s were the reason Marvel almost failed after trying to stretch themselves thin with animations when there were 2 above the rest they could have focused on instead. (X-men and Spiderman) Avi Arad had more to do with that though.
