Why do people play on PVE servers?

It is mentioned about the “No fun without horde VS alliance in the world and defeats the lore” but in the lore everyone is evenly matched. You don’t have Illidan coming down and camping baby Anduin for an hour. Its rarely if ever a fair fight and when it is you don’t see people complaining.

Where you live…I want some of your DISCUS!!!

they are cowards
I just hope what happened in retail doesn’t happen in classic
I don’t get it you will spend countless hours learning raids but not one second learning to pvp and defend yourself. Just make sure you roll pve if your a carebear!!!

I enjoy playing on PVE servers because I really like PVP. Griefing people 20 levels lower than me or getting griefed is not really my playstyle. My first level 60 was a warrior on a PVP server. After trying a PVE server, I would rather put a lit cigar out in my eyeball than go through leveling on PVP server again. There is plenty of actual PVP to be had on PVE servers and BGs are a thing.

A lot of people don’t care in the least about a game’s lore and play certain games for the mechanical or social enjoyment of it
Some people have no wish to PvP and view being PvPed as getting between them and the elements of the game they wish to engage with. Some people tilt easily and if you kill them more than once maybe twice in a short period they take it personal so they avoid PvP to reduce the stress. Some people don’t care one way or another about PvP so just play wherever their friends are.

I rolled my first toon on a PvP realm, I was a few months late in spring 2005 got to westfall and got killed by a few level ?? horde. no problem since no real loss in WoW for dying. only to be camped for 30 minutes by these high level COWARDS ganking people 45 levels lower than them. then of course they went around and killed all the quest givers and flight master. yeah no thanks PvE all the way for me these days.

Eventually the Alliance 60’s showed up and all the horde ran away from a fair fight. So yeah learn to PvP to defend yourself GL when your level 15 and they are level 60s

I roll on RP or PVE servers now because there a lot of cowardly PvP players, only come to grief low levels and run away whenever they 1> are lower level or 2> are out numbered. they want easy kills. personnaly the only way I would roll on PvP now is if a you attack a player over 5 levels lower than you you get instantly down leveled to their level and have to level up again from there. your 60 he is 10 so your 60 instantly becomes level 10, all that gear you are wearing becomes unequipable due to level requirements and you get to level up all over again.

Because they are scared to be attacked against their wishes by other players.

make PvP fairer by having a ± 5 level requirement and fine but level 60s slaughtering level 1-50’s is not PvP it simply the 60s wanting have easy fights and usually when some 60s show up to fight them the cowards run away.

Its very simple. I love competitive pvp. Wow pvp is not competitive since arbitrary numbers like character level and item level determine who wins. I have no desire to attack someone who has no chance of beating me, and I dont care to fight someone who is guaranteed to beat me. Its like playing a game vs a 6 year old, there is no challenge and no sense of enjoyment from winning. There are some fair, even fights but the number of bad experiences heavily outweigh the good. Yes I lose out on the feeling of danger and adrenaline when i know enemy players are near, but the number of times that feeling actually adds to a fun, immersive experience is pretty small.

People like to give arguments like “pve players are just bad at the game” or “pvp players are just ganking trolls who need to be carried by gear”. People play games for different reasons, its not that hard to understand.

For me, it is simple. There are times that I don’t want to be bothered. I enjoy PvP more than I did years ago, but generally the BGs are more than enough. I actually like the concept of Warmode. It seems many don’t. My interest in world PvP goes from mild to moderate but it will likely never be what sustains me. What I don’t like is lowbie ganking. To me, PvP implies a fighting chance and that is nothing of the sort.

It’s simply because I want to be able to level alts without having to put up with mentally challenged gankers. It’s not an element of danger having to log your main near where you are leveling just to chase them off.

Knock on wood, years of whining about that haven’t affected Retail. Don’t expect it to change in Classic.

I play PvE because when I wanna PvP, there are places to do it. Getting memed trying to walk into STV is not engaging. There’s no excitement, only annoyance and tedium.

Even if you get that once in a blue moon fair fight, it won’t outweigh the one-shot from a bored max level, it won’t outweigh the run back to your body only to get hit by a stealthed rogue again, it won’t outweigh 10 minute rez timers or eating rez sickness.

It’s just straight up not worth it to me. To some players, sure. To me? I don’t want to engage in mortal combat for a mithril node or an earthroot.

Honestly while I understand what you’re saying its just an excuse imo. You like competitive pvp what is more competitive than fighting over a node out in the open world or having to watch your health when grinding or gathering so your not ganked. You guys exaggerate wpvp like its always some level 60 ganking a 15. Alliance and the Horde are absolutely at war its one of the founding principals of the game To take that out you are absolutely losing out on that “fun immersive experience” Being able to fight at your own convenience isn’t competitive

not everyone plays to be competitive. that being said level 60 vs level 60 fighting over a thorium vein is competitive a level 60 killing a level 5 mining a copper node is not, simple as that.

Besides many are just doing it for social interaction, story, or an easy way to kill an hour here or there not to be competitive.

maybe you at 60 don’t go around ganking level 5s but others certainly do. Don’t act like it isn’t common for high levels to gank low levels.

Because on a PvP realm the only real PvP that takes place that you won’t find on a PvE realm is ganking and one-sided slaughters. The vast majority of people will never take a fair fight because they aren’t sure if they will win, so 99% of world PvP encounters are just one faction effectively camping the other. Almost every encounter is one side being outnumbered or outleveled. Sure you have people who like that sort of thing, but those people are also usually playing on realms where their faction makes up 80% of the population and therefore they are the ones doing the unfair ganking pretty much every time.

That isn’t fun.

Well thanks to crBG’s pve server players can still pvp when they feel like it (and help reduce horde pvp server player’s queue times). Instead of being forced into world pvp. I personally don’t have time for world pvp.

You can wpvp on a pve server… barrens was crazy wpvp on both pve and pvp servers. The difference is when you don’t want to be ganked you can turn it off. This particularly applies to three months time when you are levelling an alt and bored over geared 60s are roaming thinking that what they are doing running about in lowbie zones is wpvp.
