Why do people ignore FF14's issues?

Both games have a lot of issues and strengths.

It is refreshing to play a game where the developers are not at war with the community and fighting for their game vs the game the players want.

The MSQ is a total slog and way…WAY less gameplay focused…aka TONS of cutscenes. The first maybe 80hrs of it wont be voiced and will be dry as heck…though its a story that makes sense which is more than i can say about wow. I prefer wows style of gameplay in levelling with quest hubs and mobs to kill around the hubs, which FFXIV does have but it seems more rare.

The endgame is the same burnout for me with dungeon mechanics and doing the same instances over and over and over.

But if im playing wow and burned out and go to FFXIV i dont last long, and vice versa, because they are so similar in what burns me out.

But the whole one character multiple classes and only need to do the story once is just so awesome, and i can do it all, and theres really no time gating or micromanagment of how i play the game.

IMO i like the wow community more, its more straight forward and less socially cowardly (fun convos can take place without everyone getting banned eventhough no one was upset) and its less disgusting sexually, which i think most wont experience but theres some real sick people in ffxiv (yes im aware of that one wow server and that one tavern its contained at least here)

I think FFXIV is being creative with their game, mechanics, and systems in a very fun way. Wows creativity seems more focused on manipulating how its players play, with less regard to fun. I think this is why one is growing and has positive vibes and the other seems to be struggling and is steeped in negativity. Plus all the classes play fun in FFIXV.

Just my two cents.

I mean… they did that already in Legion with Blood Elf Demon Hunters. (Heey-oo no male Blood Elf joke. Proceeds to get mobbed by angry Elves)

the forums on FF14’s are notorious for just banning people for crapping on the game in general or insulting Yoshida

I saw those emojis and thought you accidentally outed yourself as another poster. Then I read.

Oh boy…

  1. the boost is 1/3 the price of WoW
  2. mounts/costumes available in game before they hit the store (maybe not some mounts)
  3. lvl boost here IS a story skip
  4. to compare 14 to WoW with content drought is hilarious, in fact pretty much every other big MMO right now has 50x more content than we do because only the current xpac is relevant.

The only thing WoW has over other MMO right now is pvp and fluid combat, its actually insulting how little content we can run in comparison to anything else on the market. Regardless I’d still prefer WoW fluidity and pvp but I’d be lying if I said this game wasn’t boring as hell rn

Grass is always greener on the other side.

Those who are unhappy with WoW are probably looking for something better somewhere else. So it’s easy to focus on the positives of FF which is what they want to see, the appealing side of a game. While ignoring the bad points which they don’t. It’s also easy to disregard WoW’s positive aspects in the same way.

Most normal people will just play one or the other or both and not say a word about it. You can play multiple games, it’s not a big deal. But to others FF is ammo to criticize and snipe at WoW over so mentioning FF’s flaws doesn’t help the argument.

The issues I find in other MMOs, which are clearly superior in almost every way, is mainly combat is ALWAYS trash in them. Its like the opposite of black desert, amazing combat but everything else is cancer… we just can’t win :frowning: all can hope for is WoW to get good again

TBH 1 & 2 are not issues for a lot of people on WoW - generally I get the impression that most WoW players could care less about cosmetics store stuff and level boosts. 3 is a alien concept to WoW players - most seem to want more campaign - FF 14 has what some will DEFFINETLY see as too much. Shadowbringers released 6 major content patches in less then 2 years which in my opinion is fine (clocking about a content addition every 4 months - Shadowbringers - the latest expansion turns 2 years old in July) November is when Edgewalker comes out and people suspect we still got another Shadowbringers patch comming before then. The last shadowbringers patch was in April - which means about 6 months before the expansion hits) its a far cry from the hijinx blizzard has been up to lately.

Because maybe some of those things aren’t actually as big of a deal as the problems WoW actually has?

Yoshida doesn’t give a crap about the playerbase. If he did, he woudn’t lock Male Viera in the current expansion and would have made both Viera genders available day 1

If someone already had the entirety of ARR spoiled for them, I do actually recommend skipping that story to be honest. But if not, yea don’t use the skip.

Keep telling yourself that…

Because you are valued as a player which is not the case for World of Warcraft. I have read so many official statements, ranging from “our game does not require you to play all year long” to “we made a mistake, enjoy your extra X” when it comes to inGame currencies, armors and so on.

People actually love the developers and trust them. And for the record, I’m not a FF14-player but I might try this lion race out in the near future.

My only killer for FFXIV14 is the non existent pvp other than that the game is pretty amazing. But I love PVP if I can’t pvp I no want play!.

Yoshi One Trick Pony is everyone’s pal!

Unlike Ion he’s always looking out for you! They are the good corporation that doesn’t care at all about money, obviously.

Oh my goooooood they have a new 30 dollar dress to buy for my catgirl!!! SQUEEEEEEEE!!

Also if he really cared he’d also make sure the other genderlocked race was unlocked at the same time but they don’t bring in the money, that evil unpopular race.

Pretty sure the only reason they went back on Viera is the big dollar signs from fantasia but now they can say they did it just for the fans and it was a lot of extra work~

So yeah, in short totally looking out for the players first.

When they don’t outright ignore it, they tend to be disingenuous about it. Their primary sales pitch on this forum is that it’s a flawless game–once you get past the first 140+ hours. They tout that FFXIV has housing–but leave out that it’s a very finite resource and can require (quite literally) days of doing nothing but clicking on a placard, with no guarantee you will ever get it.

The Square cash shop has far more costumes, mounts, and even emotes that never appeared in-game. And as for the ones that were in-game once–why did they not just keep them in-game? (Hint: $$$$$$)

There has been radio silence for two years on the Hrothgar requiring a cash purchase for a haircut while all other races pay 2k in-game gil. They haven’t even had the decency to put a disclaimer on the character creation screen. Then there is the little detail of locking the other gender of Hrothgar and Viera behind another expansion.

More free inventory space is too difficult to add, but they’ll sell you a LOT more at their cash shop.

Nah, this is the usual Square cashgrabbing, they’re just smiling at us while they do it.

Because we’re not asking for those elements to be brought over (plus most of them are already here). The point of most FFXIV threads is to point out all the good stuff they stole from WoW (flight in current zones, a gear progression system without timers, a leveling journey, etc., etc.), who decided to abandon all that stuff for stupid reasons. Modern day FFXIV is more like old school WoW than retail WoW is.

I completely agree. I’m starting to dislike a lot of the forum community very strongly because of this self-defeating behavior. It’s so rampant that whenever people suggest changes and cool ideas for things to add, they are met with the same pessimism they dish out at Blizzard.

A piece of me would like to see these anti-Blizzard posters kicked from the Forums so they can complain elsewhere, maybe on reddit, or better yet kicked from the game entirely. You think FFXIV is better? Fine. Leave and don’t come back. No one is going to miss you.

I’m flabbergasted at the number of people that expected Blizzard to immediately recover from COVID lockdowns and come out with 9.1 immediately when entire universities, businesses and states have stopped all operation period. I know many guild members who are currently doing nothing but sitting at home all day, complaining about this game even though they themselves aren’t working. (This is made all the worse by the fact that I work in healthcare and my hours have actually increased as a result of COVID).

Blizzard, don’t listen to the haters. They don’t deserve your ears nor do you deserve their hatred. The vast majority of the people who complain do so because talk is cheap, and if they were given the same responsibility you are currently holding, they would fail miserably. I can personally attest to this failing on the part of the community in several ways.

  1. Player housing: sounds great, absolute garbage in practice. It did nothing in Skyrim, it almost killed WoW in WoD, and people on this forum are still stupid enough to suggest it is worth doing, even at the cost of raid-tiers and dungeons (which I find hilarious since that lack of end-game content caused by the development of garrisons was what almost killed WoW during WoD).

  2. Any suggested changes are immediately dismissed as already in the game: I’ve spent hours designing changes to the Mage class, and even tried my hand at designing a storm mage, where the crux of the rotation was this giant lightning bolt that you would fire every 2 or so minutes that would act as you big cooldown since it would do around 70% of a Combustion’s damage. Everyone on the forum called it an elemantal shaman ripoff without reading the description (just because this spec used lightning). Then, I post in another forum about how this new spec could be a reworked ele shaman, and there everyone was saying that ele shamans are not just lightning mages, but rather elemental mages. Make up your f***ing mind for God’s sake.

  3. Any time Blizzard comes up with a new idea, it is immediately received with hatred and contempt, and yet somehow, every expansion we have thereafter, people reminisce about how those very same additions that were despised are now sorely missed additions to the game. Again, make up you f***ing mind WoW community. You cannot love and hate something at the same time.

This leads me to my final point: WoW players need to stop talking and start acting. You don’t like WoW and prefer FFXIV? Then leave, immediately. You want to make WoW more fun? Suggest your idea, and let’s see exactly how “fun” your ideas are when you are under the block of scrutiny. You think Blizzard is giving unfair advantages in the form of WoW Tokens and Level Boosts? Go play classic where you’ll find Chinese gold farmers and Mage speed levelers selling you the exact same thing. Stop complaining like a child and do something about the things that tic you off. You’ll quickly notice that the solutions you think are so simple are far from acceptable, realistic or even appreciated.

This is precisely what is going on, which is why I would like all of these haters to leave and go play FFXIV and realize that MMO has pitfalls and problems exactly like WoW does, which may very well be even more problematic for that game than for WoW.

Now imagine players complained about it and Blizzard said, “You’re right, and we’re sorry about that. We’ll fix it ASAP.” And then they did it without any crazy requirements or additional costs.

Those are some pretty silly straws to be grasping at… if those were the only issues in WoW it would be amazing
