I noticed though FF14 has a lot of things ppl despise about Blizzard, it’s ignored.
Character Boosts
Store Mounts / Armor
Story Skips (WoW doesn’t have this?)
Content Droughts (in one now?)
Just to name a few. Idk, sometimes it just feels like Blizzard is in a lose / lose situation no matter what. I believe both WoW and FF14 are some really great games that aren’t perfect, but overall still amazing that get the job done for their playerbases. Yet WoW is met with such vitriol and hatred by comparison.
People bringing in FF14 as some stance against Blizz to show them that they’ve strayed the path and are gonna meet diablo if they don’t listen to their demands don’t care about the ‘issues’ of ff14.
Just the notion or idea that they believe they are doing something constructive putting it to Blizz with their threads - - which just doesn’t have that desired affect lol.
firstly have you visited ff14 forums? people do complain. I agree that they have ff14 on a pedestal here and I totally agree with your points. leveling alternate jobs is boring , same repetitive super easy dungeons, no reason to go outside your fc house, the same expansion for two years now, story is convoluted af
XIV patches are typically spaced 3 months apart, save the end of the expansion, which is roughly 6 months before the next expansion launches.
Compare directly to the gap between 9.0 to 9.1. A fresh expansion launch that took 8 months for content. Even SWTOR managed to push out more content in that time.
Because I don’t have a problem with this in WoW, either. What I have a problem with is the leveling experience in WoW that makes it feel like the Boost is necessary. I’m almost through Stormblood in FFXIV and… I honesty have no idea what level my character is, because this is the first RPG with a leveling mechanic I’ve played where I don’t feel it’s necessary to level my character. I’m entirely engrossed by the story in a way that WoW hasn’t been able to drag me into since Wrath/Cata.
I’ve never had a problem with this in WoW either. I own a Sparkle Pony and bought one the week it came out. I like being able to buy cool mounts, and neat transmogs. It encourages the Developers to make more cool mounts and more cool armors and many of those will end up in the game and on the store. I have disposable income and I understand what a budget is and I have the self-control to stick to it.
Again, not something I would have a problem with. If someone wants to skip the story of FFXIV more power to them. I think they’re missing out on one of the best stories in the MMORPG market, but their life and their decision.
WoW currently does have this, though. It’s called not buying the Expansion because the story is garbage. It’s free, but does require 2 - 3 years to finish processing. Then you get to skip that story and go to the next one.
Thing is, though, the FFXIV Devs acknowledge that this is a thing and encourage their players to stop playing through the droughts and explore other entertainment. To level side-jobs(alts), or do other things. WoW does everything it can to keep you subscribed as long as you can, drought or no. (6-month mount subs, FOMO design concepts for their patch cycles, completely removing convenience payment features that aren’t tied to a recurring payment.) It comes off as desperate to stave off Bobby’s axe as he looks at ailing profit margins and starts looking at the EA treatment for the problem.
Silly bean, this is the WoW forums, where we talk about how much we hate the game and how much better literally every other game is than WoW. If you like WoW, or you point out another game’s fault, you are then accused of trolling. Then you tell everyone how you’re quitting and drop these emojis and call it a day.
Oh yeah, the bunny-girl controversy. That’s a legit point of contention.
I will always be a fan of more options and more customization for players.
I don’t play a bunny-girl, though, so it’s hard to get super worked up about something that doesn’t affect me, but I’ll happily carry a pitch-fork or a torch for the bunny-girls/guys if they need a hand.
Y’all obsessed with FF. Even on 14 forum’s you got WoW players trolling them, too lol.
Just not as hard since the forum is hella strict. One cuss word = permaban.
think of it like this…
Imagine if Battle for Azeroth released the allied races, but you’re locked to one gender (and given a flimsy lore excuse for it.)
