Why? do you enjoy running around with weird feet or ring with random second stats that isn’t BIS for your spec?
I will never understand the hate. Please consider, bringing this back… I would like to change my cloak from Versa to Haste.

Because all it did was make you plug yourself into a third party website and then pay gold to optimize stats for content that needs to be tuned harder since everyone will automatically be that much closer to BiS.
The only reason it needed to exist before was because of stats like Hit Chance, which was so bad that they removed it.
If you want better gear, go get better gear.
I really don’t remember much hate for that system.
I personally liked it, and I always thought it was Blizz randomly getting rid of it
I don’t think players hate it.
Given the reasons they decided to remove it is they said ‘everyone would basically just reforge to optimal stats based on a guide page and that would turn the gearing process into a chore’.
But we do it for crafts, we do it for farming BiS so I don’t see why we can’t have reforging back either.
The system was just another meta defining copy/paste tool.
The stats you had to worry about really balancing no longer exist.
Instead, they just really flooded loot acquisition. We have a ton more ways of farming loot than we did during MoP.
Yeah, this confuses me. Reforging removed but then they add choose-your-own-stats Missives to the game. I guess because you’re typically only going to craft a handful of pieces? Still seems bass-ackwards.
percent so.
But then again I guess they would have gotten backlash if they’d said ‘tbh we just want you grinding for gear longer cause metrics’
Reforging solved the issue of low loot diversity since you only really used gear from raid.
This issue is currently solved by having increased loot diversity from crafting and m+
I wouldnt say hate but reforging makes loot less interesting to me. Makes everything more of the same and feel like youre playing a template. Makes it so getting bis doesnt feel as great as a stat upgrade will be less significant.
I loved reforging. But I also miss all the other stats and open talent trees. So I’m probably the odd one out.
Getting BIS at the moment is a huge slog though. Running the same dungeon 40+ times for a trinket, or that ring/bracer that just don’t seem to drop. Plus, I can’t get my preferred stats in at least a couple places depending on spec and instead get one that is worth very little to me outside of very nice uses compared to better options. And it changes based on the type of content I’m doing.
Doing purely raid content I’d need to be at least a 6 of out 8 mythic raider to get the things I need, and that’s never happening with how inaccessible the content is, and UI boss being #5. So I’m down to one loot option. I don’t know, I think I’d rather have reforging back.
Their reasoning is pretty dumb imo, so instead of that everyone just farms the optimal gear piece they read on a guide page and it’s still a chore but even more so because we have to rely on RNG to win the roll.
As opposed to before where you still had BiS items and relied on RNG to win the roll
That makes no sense. Today almost all thought of gear is nothing more than highest item level you can obtain. There often isn’t any real options especially on your set slots. Reforging was way more rewarding to get a piece that allowed a stat swap to gain a tick without falling off your threshold for another stat.
Not being able to get bis if you arent doing the content is totally fair to me as it act as an incentive to do said content. As for m+ I think they simply need to reduce loot tables grim batol one is pretty crazy.
I enjoyed it. Between reforging and enchanting you could really see a big difference in output and tailor it more toward your playstyle.
You have gems, enchants and crafting which can help. Also one way youre saying that secondaries are not important because of ilvl but then saying they are as hitting a certain cap can be important? I dont know but overall I would disagree with your statement.
Crafted caps at 636 though while top tier through Vault/Raids is 639. Small difference, but still lower quality. Also, yes we have secondary stats but they are different then the specific stats they had back then like hit chance.
Because every time you got an upgrade you had to spend 15 mins realigning everything optimally rather than just being able to equip it. Forget that noise.
reforging back then with hit, expertise, and all that jazz was fine. most everyone just used reforge light or reforginator to automate it. dont feel its that necessary anymore.
