Thankfully mine was rather painless, and happened several months ago, as I had been waiting in line for a while and nobody could argue, but I’ve heard horror stories about people quitting the game on the spot, gquitting, or screaming and arguing about ferals getting a DFT either first, close to first, or even first 3-5.
Why the heck does this seem to get people so ragey? It’s our BIS, for both of our roles in hybrid bear-cat, just like it is yours, and frankly we may even end up using it longer.
So what’s the deal? It’s not like just because someone is feral they put in less time or effort during scheduled raid hours…they deserve their fair share of the loot. This should be a completely normalized thing, it shouldn’t be odd at all for ferals to get it. Why is this hard to understand or deal with for some people?
its quite simple really, they NEED every single piece of gear available in order to consistenly 99 every week. dps are a dime a dozen and theres always someone out there more geared than they are, pushing the same exact buttons as they do off cooldown. but here we are, this rogue is a 97 because hes missing a dft, and this one has a 99 because he has dft.
and heres Mr.100 who snapshot crit 70% of the time.
no1 wants to be an adult and take turns and share. they HAVE to be first on everything.
i run a LC, ive had 1 person quit on me because of loot in 9 months so far, and he was new and we were funneling loot to tanks in progression weeks. w/e, not gunna lose sleep over it.
and my secret is I round robin 95% of the time with a bunch of dads.
explain to be how a performance based loot system functions when you need gear to do better? it just blatantly rewards the players whove been around longer officers/GM
and warrior/rogue drop it for active trinkets or double naxx trinket but ferals will keep it until TBC, obv have to hard prio forever bis items. HER DER. especially with racial hit psssives needing to drop hit.
lol no, its because they already have 6% hit, and the 56 AP is less than 2% crit from BB in several cases or theyre trying to snapshot additional melees with HoJ. or the 280 AP for 20s / 45s fight leads to an average of 120AP over DFTs 56 AP.
basic math here. in what universe is diamond flasks 75str, 150AP, lower than DFTs 56AP???
you have to factor in the 2% hit to get better value, which is impossible because warriors are already over hit cap.
Just because it’s your BiS doesn’t mean it would benefit the raid the most if given to you. Any loot council member with half a brain will consider what benefits the raid most above all, and in this case, giving DFT to your main tank and then all your rogues would be much more beneficial to the raid as a whole than giving it to a feral.
Obviously, some guilds are more casual about how they approach loot and give it to whoever they like regardless of how the contribute to the raid, but the general sentiment is that strong items like DFT should be on meta classes/specs first
Ok, I can maybe see this for the first one from a guild perspective.
However it seems most of the time I hear about this, it’s not because the feral got it over the MT it’s because the feral got it at all. Like some people think only warriors and rogues are allowed, like it branded on the trinket tooltip or something.
depends on what principle you follow, for Horde going over yellow hit cap is very beneficial as your “white hit crit capped” at 38.5% which you can reach without any world buffs, more hit opens that up as you’ll see most warrior hitting 11% hit in Naxx Horde side to extend white crit damage and Windfury.
And then of course you have heroic strike queing removing hit penalty entirely and muting the previous principle.
Healthier for the guild as a whole if they can be happy for guildmates getting upgrades all of it will help down bosses faster regardless of the benefit being better for X class vs Y class.
At the same time if all the rogues and Warriors in your guild are pissed because of this that sets up a different set of issues as Naxx is/was prime poaching time for geared and disgruntled Warriors/Mages/Rogues/Priests as most guilds wont be clearing naxx in 2 nights a week of raiding simply due to the logistics of the raid boss quantity (alot of people forgot about this).
Speed run guilds will obviously clear naxx in 1 night while casual guilds will likely only get 3 wings done in a standard 2 nights a week guild. Which prompts them to shore up there roster to try and increase raid clear times, which generally means 2 druids/hunters and more mages/wars/rogues.
From an OT perspective of course I’d love DFT but earthstrike/HoJ is still really strong. Save your dkp/social capital for Kiss of the Spider in Naxx imho. At the end of the day it’s not worth it to be involved in DFT drama.
Personally, I’d be a huge hypocrite if I cried about DFT since I barely use pummelers unless I’m main tanking something, and I skip most of my world buffs. Those will make a much bigger difference than a DFT.
Everyone is different I suppose. But I council based on the greatest upgrade the majority of the time. What has the potential to increase overall raid performance the best.
Making people collect the same gear you did because you got in an earlier phase is just as stupid as “back in my day I had to walk to school uphill BOTH ways in the snow”.
what my guild started doing once AQ released was each class talks amongst themselves and make a “wish list”.
A 1-15 list of what they want in what order they want it, it’s worked so far no more /roll on loot for the most part and it’s less time spent asking who wants this or that.
