you’ll still pay and play regardless of what they do so why would they change it?
I agree that it completely sucks to have to spend thousands on every single character to fly–especially when you’re playing a bunch of characters.
The upside to it though–it felt like an accomplishment (to me). I used to hit level cap, start gearing up a character, unlock whatever the highest riding/flying was…and from there, the character would begin feeling like my new main.
Nowadays, I have a ton of alts. I know some people love that style, but it feels off (to me). Every character catches up fast gear-wise, but never feels finalized. No huge investment.
I agree with you–doing things you would normally do in place of a forced gold grind is a more enjoyable process. Not really sure what the middle ground would be.
That false statement gets to me about as much as saying the people wanting flying right at max level want “instant gratification”.
No, removing flying isn’t an option because Blizzard tried that and it would have tanked the game.
Pathfinder needs to die in a fire, pure and simple. Just make it something you have to throw a stack of gold at to unlock on each character at max level.
World PvP? Most people haven’t done world PvP outside of events (raiding Stormwind, Wintergrasp, Spirit towers in Auchindun) since Battlegrounds were introduced. Hell, most people go their entire game time without ever flagging PvP outside of BGs or Arenas.
Makes the world feel empty? The world has felt empty since WoD. Not being able to fly just forces people to run around through the emptiness, rubbing it in our faces rather than letting us skip it.
Maybe you haven’t played Classic lately. It’s a pain to get the cash together to purchase all of your spells. Drop flight on top of that and it breaks your bank. Grind is still grind whether it’s time gated or not.
I don’t defend it. I just accept it. Like Death and Taxes.
Sure, it is a grind. But the grind for your mounts at 40 and 60 is something you have more control over than timegated rep grinds, limited by world quests. You can do more to grind up gold than you can grinding rep.
Once you have done all the quests to reach expac lore master and seen all the zones for explorer and you are pretty much left with doing the same repeatable wqs and sitting in some area linked to Trade chat relevant content is done and that is usually by the end of the first month of the expansion .
You just have a lot of players who don’t like doing the achievements at all.
No because in BC 5K gold was a lot of gold
as a 10+ year vet im fine with pathfinder
I say give players a choice .
If they have to gold to do buy flying for the toons they want to buy it for let them .
If they choose PF then fine but it needs to be changed
Start at begining at expac for the starter zones make it be Expansion Lore Master as well as Explorer along with max level.
Once completed those zones become flyable for the players toons . When a new zone opens say in a .2 patch flying has to be earned for those zones.
There are plenty of reasons to grind rep and achivments. Like getting mounts…that you cant use in current content.
Not thanks, not interested in exalted mounts
Just keep letting them know we don’t like it.
And I’m not interested in grinding rep for somthing i use to be able to do without issue.
Pathfinder isn’t bad.
The arbitrary almost-year timegate IS.
Most of those against PF in its current form are actually opposed to the arbitrary timegating that gets longer each expansion.
Legion took around 8 months. BfA took around 10 months.
Will Shadowlands take 12+ months and keep the pattern going? Knowing Blizz, most likely. They’re still peeved we didn’t all kiss their backside and praise the WoD flight removal.
They don’t care if you don’t like it as long as you continue to pay them.
I am a victim of ‘path not found’
Because Pathfinder literally is fine, and I’d rather do pathfinder than spend thousands of gold every character I decide to level?
