The older version of profession leveling when they revamped the system in dragonflight?
too much work i guess far too much work for no real reason
Would want to think for nostalgia purposes. Either that, or have the new player experience what the profession mechanics were back then versus now.
They won’t revamp it because that stuff is the past. Gotta look forward.
what exactly would be the point?
Well consistency for one
uh huh. is there any other reason? an ACTUAL reason. that doesn’t feel like your just putting out bait. reason being if you think about it for less than 5 minutes youll get your answer why.
300 vanilla/cata fishing seems unnecessary for that content.
Consistency is bait? You might want to take a day off.
they did the revamp back in legion i believe. 675 was the limit at the time.
I wish they would update the old content. This goes hand in hand with their overall approach to WoW, though–bail on anything from the previous expansion at the start of the next.
Unless they somehow have us revisit old expansions as current content, old professions will probably always be in the old format. And even then, they’d likely just create another section in the profession screen like they do for each new expansion.
so let me get this straight. you want them to abandon all work on their current project to just go back and completely redo every single old world zone and mechanic. all so it can then be obsoleted 6 yrs later and youll ask for them to do it AGAIN. for no actual profitable gain whatsoever? I feel like people dont understand how game development works whatsoever and think the devs have infinite resources available to call upon.
Before classic was a thing, it would have been fine with keeping things the way they once were for nostalgia purposes. Since classic does exist though retail can move forward completely and hence given both versions of the games their own entirely different identites. Just my cent of thought there.
No? lol. I just…don’t think they would ever revisit old professions unless they somehow made them current content.
so you want them to revamp professions for expansions
tbc, wrath, mists, wod, legion, bfa, shadowlands. all of which DO NOT have classic counterparts.go back and completely overhaul the old recipes? what would be the point of these nodes anyways? mindless busy work? for people that already have them maxed out? now they all have to drop everything and go back and farm old content nodes just to be to use the professions they previously could here?
why do i feel like we’re being trolled here?
Vanilla wow was made with 40 people and counting the oldest files 7 years of development.
Thousands of new models, all professions, a bunch of raids, dungeons, hundreds of items. All again with 40 people and 53 million dollars.
Their team is probably several times that size and their tools for game development have gotten better over time probably much more efficient.
People really love the argument do you know how much work that would be, it could be this or that. Why does a video game company with astronomical amounts of resources have to limit to the point of no development whatsoever in anything else…
you didnt even read what i just typed. go back and read it. that or you dont want to accept that your idea is a bad one.
Yeah I didn’t read it because I was typing to reply to the previous post on a smart phone. I wasnt implying that they get rid of the recipes if you have collected them. The main thing was the observation on the nodes for mining and herbalism and the subspec. There is a happy medium somewhere and Im sure they know that more than any of us. If and when the story refocuses on older content like for example we are going back to quelthalas next expansion and northrend at the end of the trilogy.
So I don’t think that we are going to be mining copper ore or saronite ore the way we once were.
They can work on it in phases but if you believe that they are justified as staying as is, I don’t agree with that.
It’s a lot of work with 0 reason to redo every profession for everything but the 2 recent xpacs
because theres literally no point to it, old professions are no longer relevant outside of glyphs and mounts/toys
Actually there is, it’s evolution and like I said it can be done piece-meal.
For example, the story is going back to quel’thalas and Northrend respectfully so those two areas can get mechanical updates to professions. So on and so forth. Main point is that the game doesn’t have to be bandaided it can be made better overtime.
