Why do hunters still have undeathable trap

I love to hear the rationale as to why this completely brain-dead pet damage class deserves to have the privilege of making their main CC uncounterable to CC break mechanics.

Take it off them along with that stupid 2 second silence sting. Disgusting class.

Uh, Hunter having an option to trap that won’t break to ambient cleave and stuff doesn’t seem inherently problematic but did they not adjust its duration to match freezing?

Didn’t Freezing go from 8 to 6 and Diamond ice is still 5?

It lowers the duration 5 seconds when they take that talent, and in solo shuffle when you’re lobbied with a dh or something playing hunter would be miserable without it cause of auto cleaves

Is there diamond polymorph? Diamond Repentence? Maybe an option for Diamond Blind (rogue)

No, there’s not and it’s because hunter is the entry class for the game and is not allowed to require any thought whatsoever when playing.

That’s also why they made traps land instantly with no arming time because people were diving on their healer and that gives the hunter players some struggle

Hunters deserve nothing but nerfs. AI classes deserve nothing but nerfs. Get rid of hunters zoo army and while theyre at it remove barbed shot

Trap is the only one of those CC that can be missed and isn’t auto target, though. people always forget that one and act like traps are free. It is absolutely easier to get them than it used to be but i’ve seen bad players miss their traps all the time

This seems overly harsh. Also, some of your examples are not mutually exclusive.

Also removing the dead zone cuz bad hunters couldn’t kite bad melee

Sure, but it also cant be kicked? Like, different spells are different, thats a little silly.

Also, while not ideal, you can always scatter to set up your trap. However, I prefer to save that to stop clones/fists of fury/warbreakers

It can’t be kicked and it’s super taxing to click on the enemy healer with your at cursor macro

Im just glad they removed the @enemy script LOL.
Making trap botting part of the game for the first 2/3 of s1 was pretty neat.

Sure sure. Well, the game has classes that can dispel magic effects. Unlike most other CC of it’s type (magic), we can’t spam trap. Given that hunters were hit the hardest by the CC nerf, I think diamond ice should be the least of your concerns.

No, it’s because the game changed and the majority of hunter abilities now cleave. This wasn’t really an issue prior to WoD, when the hunter class got destroyed in PvP. In WoD, every hunter spec had a baseline ability that cleaved. So you could just… stand by the healer or the trapped target and the hunter could do no damage.

Diamond was introduced in Legion for SV as a way for our traps to stick. I mean, it’s not really much different then a rogue or any other melee using a physical CC.

Disagree. My CC was much better when I could scatter the off target and get a full trap on the healer. Now, scatter is mostly useless and we have short traps and things just keep getting worse for hunter CC.

That said, the game changed dramatically when instant traps were introduced.

It’s more that they gave warriors more mobility to deal with mages and hunters weren’t able to do damage. =/

DH fear says high, 2 min CD, last 2 seconds. Can miss if bad or they get gripped.

p sure it could scatter, silence instant, and trap so you could legit 1v3 cross CC with instant casts and no counterplay.

Disagree with this. Being able to guarantee a trap and/or cross another dps and stop things like fists are pretty good.

I do think the pet stun shouldn’t have been reduced with everything else for being a 1 minute CC.

Only CC we have that doesn’t DR with hunters, so when they get stun trapped I try to throw it after trap in SS, SOMETIMES too late they leap out or fade it, on rare occasion. I know hunters get mad when I try to do my own CC chain on healer. With stun-incap-fear, they get pissy for DRing incap (trap) and stun.

Has multiple other cc’s on shorter cd’s than trap and is literally just a cc you click.

Also diamond ice is a pvp talent they lose important options to get it.

Pretty sure if they reverted this and made scatter off trap dr every hunter would love that. Yolo traps are kinda unreliable anyways against good players.
