Why do Dracthyr need a visage form?

Dracthyr are already mortal-race-sized and bipedal and their visage form has horns and scales so it is not to fit in. And even if the visage form didn’t have horns and scales, it is not like the Drakthyr were created to be rogues so that shouldn’t matter. And we have so many other humonoid beast races like Tauren and Pandaren that it’s not like people would be screaming and fainting in the streets over another one.

So what is the point?

What makes the visage form useful?

Nothing, but if they didn’t add a humanoid form, they know people would be like “Why can’t I turn into a humanoid like Alexstraza!”

I think the real question here is…

WHY DRACTHYRS AT ALL?!

I asked this a few weeks ago in another thread.

I know people get upset when this is brought up, but I legitimately think it’s for the furry (scaley?) community.

It’s the lore behind them, don’t know why but Neltharion’s perfect army needed to look quasi humanish at somepoint for some reason.

but neither of the races they turn into existed at the time of their creation.

Shh shhhh…Lore…shh. Norzdomu probably was watching them on dragon time travel netflix or something.

Why do worgen need a human form? It’s cosmetic/for RP purposes. Dragons take a human form in order to infiltrate/blend in with mortal societies (plus it’s a lot easier to fit inside a human/elf/whatever designed building if you aren’t a 40 forty foot long flying lizard. Dracthyr are closer to true dragons than dragonspawn and drakonids (which are basically mortals mutated into more draconic forms via exposure to their respective dragonflights), so them having the ability to take a more humanoid form for convenience/to blend in better makes sense (plus it was clearly fun for them to make the different customization options for them). And since the dracthyr true form is more androgynous having a visage form that’s clearly male or female is also for players/RP.

To have something to point at when those of us who want to main dragonmen ask for our mogs to show.

Daddy D shoved what he thought was all general mortal attributes into what is a dragon so it’s not entirely that you take the disguise of a mortal but take the form of your mortal figure with some of what your dragon shines through. Vice versa the dragon form takes some mortal attributes.

This is the best I can offer.

Because they knew people were going to complain about not being able to see their gear.

As long as it’s like playing a Worgen where I end up never seeing the human form I don’t mind.

It’s more for the RP folks I imagine, just like Two Forms.

Not really a whole lot of point, but once they started reskinning old models they just kept going.

Because Blizz won’t make them into flying dragons themselves, because that’s more work they’d have to do instead of putting a stupid human/Belf on the back of a dragon.

To show the full Armor-sets of course.

It has nothing to do with useful, who cares about that? The visage form is fun and the customization options that we have seen so far are gorgeous.

Except that they did immediately after the DF trailor… which is why Blizz announced after all the feed back that they are working on making the visage form a choice during combat.

The cynic in me wants to say: So that Blizzard doesn’t have to make armor work on the Drakthyr models, as a shortcut.

People find dragons intimidating, even those of a more pocket sized variety.

But Blizzard would have a simple answer: because they are Dracthyr, not dragons.

I mean, can any of Neltharion’s experiments change form?

Why would the furry/scaly community want visage forms when it is specifically the furry/scaly version that attracts their interest?

Pre-Sundering, humans existed but high elves/blood elves did not.
(For sources, see: Drak’thyr lore - #6 by Silverleigh-drakthul )

Because they are humans; they are just cursed humans.

It is a integral part of their lore.

And didn’t they have that ability before they became playable? I thought I ran across some who shapeshifted and attacked me in Grizzly Hills, Northrend.

Made my laugh out loud! :cupcake: :cupcake: :cupcake: for you!

Sorry, I should have been clearer. I am talking in-game as in:
It’s not like people in Stormwind would be screaming and fainting in the streets over another humanoid beast race.

Well, the consensus seems to be it was cater to the player base. That would explain those flashy customizations.

I do hope Blizzard remembers to include an actual lore reason for them though, maybe in their starting zone.

Dragons have mortal disguises, so Dracthyr can to. Are you asking to remove racial identity? Would you also ask to remove Two Forms from Worgen as they “are already mortal-race-sized and bipedal”?
