What real red blooded, freedom loving american gives two sharts about a backwater country like canada?
edit: Heck, australia gets more love from americans than freakin canada does.
In Australia we have to wait for ophthalmologists, genetic testing and some disorder evaluations, like ASD, but ex-rays and CT scans are immediate and free.
A few years ago my sister was diagnosed with a very rare sinus cancer. (An olfactory neuroblastoma.) She was in hospital the day after she was diagnosed. The surgery lasted 11 hours, then she stayed in hospital for a month, followed by three months of Radiation therapy.
It was all free. (We pay a Medicare Levy in our Taxes.)
Five years later her cancer came back so she had very invasive surgery, followed by three months in hospital because of a brain fluid leak. She was then seen by her oncologist every three months for five years, and every six months for five more. Nothing regarding her cancer and recovery ever cost her money, and her care was exemplary. She’s been cancer free for years now.
But if I go to emergency with a bad splinter it will still be free, but I might be waiting for six hours to see someone!
We are a small country, though.

Generally people think two things about Canadians. Bad drivers and very nice people. Tends to hold up under scrutiny.

What? America and Canada are actually really close allies and friends. I’m sure the far left in Canada probably thinks we’re a bunch of Fascists, but I have never met a Canadian who openly hates America. Even when it comes to our oh so popular overseas interventions and wars guess who is always with us? Canada. Even in Vietnam Canada was there, Afghanistan? Canada again. Iraq? Canada. So I have no idea where this is coming from.

Agreed, most Canadians I meet get along really well with US citizens. There’s douchebags in both countries so you can’t really say everyone’s nice but yea for the most part most people are generally nice.

Well I’ve liked almost every Canadian I’ve ever met. My impression is from meeting Albertans and Saskatchewanians. Polite, happy and friendly.
