Love the bacon.
As someone from the EU, Canada has always just seemed like a more picturesque peaceful America. Just a bit colder.

You mean back bacon that you inexplicably call ours and say it came from us?
I mean - when you think American stereotype, isn’t either Texan, NY, or Valley what you think of? I’ve only interacted with Canadians from Toronto, so I’m ignorant on other cultures within Canada. Would love to meet other people so I can hear the ranges.
That’s what I said, Canadian bacon.
Well, again, I don’t know if something related to a stroke could be considered that either.
I dunno… I don’t think I would like Canada’s way of doing things. If they’re health care is “free,” that means they get a say in your treatments. I’ll give an example:
I was recently diagnosed with cancer. I went to the CTCA and they gave me internal and external radiation plus chemo. Months later my insurance tried to tell me that my radiation treatments were not needed. “Elective.” Well… my cancer was in remission so I think they were full of . They were just being cheap. What my insurance wanted me to do was just remove the infected organ. My doctors felt that that would have made my cancer spread but my insurance thought they were smarter than a doctor that’s been treating cancer patients for 30+ years.
Now, the point of this story is do you think the gov would be any different if they had control of your health? Do you really think they would let you get the expensive treatment that works or the cheaper treatment that may or may not work? Think about it. I’ll keep paying my premiums.
For real though, while I’m confident in saying that Canada doesn’t have problems to the extent that America does, we’re far from perfect, particularly in matters of indigenous reconciliation and living wages. At least for the time being we seem to be able to fend off the advances of the right-wing kleptocrats…maybe not so much in Alberta.
I don’t know I find Canadian accent and people interesting and extremely sexy… (IMO)
The country seem beautiful too might I add…
If you order “bacon” up here you’re going to get the exact same thing you get in the states
According to the doctors it’s not immediately necessary, so yeah. They would know better than I would.
Good luck with that. I’ll keep fighting for healthcare that doesn’t discriminate between rich or poor and won’t literally ruin my life if I get sick or hurt.
Hooray
BTW I am from the southern US and unsure about Canada Day customs. Do you hafta sing songs about Isaac Brock or something? Or maybe the Queen?
At what point was I trying to convince anyone of anything? I merely gave a statement on the two options.
Aside from that: I have no problem with footing the bill for people who can’t afford life-saving and/or quality-of-life-improving medical treatment, or for those with significant and/or complex needs.
But I do have a problem with people electing to buy alcohol, tobacco, big-screen TVs, etc. instead of putting that money towards insurance plans. Those folks get zero sympathy from me.
I paid relatively high monthly premiums for my insurance, but it saved me thousands of dollars. But then I lost my job and moved 600 miles away, losing my insurance in the process, and picked up a basic Blue Cross/Blue Shield insurance plan for something like $65/month, and that was WITH a preexisting condition.
So, again, anecdotal, but still an example of how the American system isn’t the festering cesspool many would have you believe it is.
I love the double entendre. Spanish major myself.
E.E.U.U., E.U., U.E. The confusion would erupt in class.
There are other similarities with Mexico. D.F. like our D.C. and being called The United States.
I’m not even close to rich.
If you don’t think the gov wouldn’t ruin your life from the story I just told you, then you didn’t read it.
Do a better job trolling novice, Americans couldn’t give 2 about Canada
Typically we just consume booze and listen to Rush
Like any other day but with more flags
I don’t believe I said you were.
Well, you seem like you’re still alive. And probably buried in medical bills too. So there’s that.
Or get high and listen to The Tragically Hip.
I miss those days…
I tried to convince my parents to celebrate Boxing Day and have one more Christmas.
Hands Kwixit a red flannel shirt, some maple syrup and a beer.
That’s all you need
No you didn’t but I was saying I got excellent treatment even though I’m not rich.
No, I’m not. I just had to pay my copays (up to $5000) then my insurance picked up the rest. The total of my treatments was in the 6 figure range.
