Your examples show that you don’t understand the system or how to utilize it. The whole thing was perfectly intuitive in SL when you were forced to go back and forth between eclipses. But threads like this popped begging for a change, and now you have something that is actually clunky in the way it operates.
Which players are asking for Eclipse to return? Every time it does, these forums at least are not in favor of it. We’ve had procs caused by casting Starfire or Wrath. We’ve had a constantly moving Eclipse tracker. We’ve had other variations as well. They keep redesigning it, and it is never very popular. When it was removed in favor of Astral Power as a builder/spender, I thought we’d never see it again. Time makes fools of us all. I’ve played Balance in every expansion since Cataclysm (though I did try a bit of it in Classic Wrath of the Lich King), and I’ve never been a fan of the mechanic. I know you’ll just talk down to us as if your word is law, but the vast majority of balance druid players don’t like Eclipse and would rather it not (at the least) require us to cast one spell in order to cast the other.
It never went away. But a majority of forum users asked to choose which Eclipse state they could be in instead of being forced to go back and forth
Stating facts and claiming what happened isn’t talking down on anyone. Players didn’t want to be in Lunar Eclipse in ST situations and vice versa with Solar Eclipse so they asked to choose which Eclipse they wanted to be in in any given situation.
So in DF we ended up with what we have now which is a stupid and unintuitive version of the system, but it’s what the players wanted.
Zandalari don’t get their power from Elune.
Darkspear don’t get their power from Elune.
Kul-Tirans don’t get their power from Elune.
Worgen don’t get their power from Elune.
Tauren, it could be argued, do get their power from Elune.
Highmountain, same as Tauren.
Night Elf get their power from Elune.
Moonkin should not just be assumed as a default. I mean, I get it for mechanic reasons. But arguing that it makes sense because of Elune is to dismiss all the other races that don’t get their power from Elune.
I think the best version of Eclipse was the ‘automatic one’ that cycled through day and night and that altered your playstyle.
It had flaws, but I think it was a good basis to build upon instead of just nuking the whole thing for a boring build/spend system. They probably would need to stop relating the AoE rotation directly to the Eclipse system. I’d be fine with a more basic AoE filler with a channeled Hurricane spell or something.
