I am probably talking out of inexperience. I haven’t even touched balance in a couple months because it felt bad. I am currently enjoying guardian and restoration in casual content when I do play druid.
I mean it doesn’t feel bad because of how it plays, it feels bad because of its tuning. Big difference.
Why no solar spender?
Theres no Arcane spenders either
It combines all spenders into Astral which is a mix of both
Moonfire and starfire are “arcane”
Because main druid’s are almighty. When the class is in a medium half baked state, the good druids plays like gods and them the dev’s nerfs the class to the abbyss. Unfortunately, the normal player base must suffer
Thematically Balance Druids are at least in part what NE Priests should have been. They are the Elune worshipers. They shouldn’t be delving into The Light and Shadow/Void magics. A Priest/Priestess of Elune should be the ones dealing with Astral and Lunar spells. A Druid caster should be more focused on Nature spells. I’m fine with a touch of lunar spells being in there but aesthetically not to the current extent.
I understand why they didn’t do this back in 2004, but it would have been nice.
If you’ve not tried it yet, Lunar Calling actually makes Eclipse feel a lot better.
Basically Wrath just becomes this 2x filler spell once in a while and Starfire is always the one to press.
At least for me it’s made Eclipse go from this janky system to just the prerequisite that doesn’t feel that bad.
I’m actually enjoying my Balance Druid right now. It could be my new main.
Elune Choosen feels weak in single target unfortunately.
I never really thought about this, but you’re right. Even Tyrande as the Night Warrior, Balance fit what she was doing more than it fits as a priestess.
Not to start an argument, but our specs are almost the easiest in the game.
Outside of Resto perhaps.
Since I don’t have the new expac yet I’ve really just been leveling Druid Alts with their own specs since coming back to wow to farm forms. Balance feels a bit clunky, feral does too a bit with the energy changes but I think that’s when you have to get accustomed to form weaving which makes it much better.
In regards to leveling Alts, Guardian Druid is stupid easy for leveling. You Just face tank everything. Balance is fine overall just a slower leveling experience. The only one I’ve had issues with is Feral but that’s only because I was severely under-geared there for a hot minute which made it so squishy it was awful lol. I will say though, I am grateful for the experience because it did really helped out my form-weaving game. Now that my feral is caught up to around where he’s kinda supposed to be he’s totally fine shredding and the difference in performance is palpable. Never play resto though so not sure how they’re fairing .
Fair enough, I play resto.
I feel like EC takes too long to ramp up for me, but I’m also not doing content where stuff lives long enough for EC to be viable for me so I go KOTG which just lets me put out damage quicker when things are only living for 20-30 secs.
EC is better when you have pulls planned inhigher keys.
KOTG will be better without those plans
As a balance druid main since 2004, I do miss green wrath and the nature theme. Would be nice if we could recolor the moon and star and sun stuff to be more naturey.
Druid dos feels.bad but resto and guardian are pretty straight forward.
I don’t think people think it’s complex, people are saying it’s CLUNKY!
Multiple explanations in here of why it’s not.
Just because YOU don’t feel it is doesn’t mean that all the other people explaining that it does feel clunky are wrong. We get it. You like it. You’ve obviously played it enough to have everything down, and all your button placements and macros and blah blah blah.
Casting is fine, I guess. Especially with Lunar Calling. The whole concept of having to cast the spell you’re NOT wanting to use twice before you start casting the spells you do want to cast, before you cast your two (or three) dots, is ridiculous. It’s clunky.
Why isn’t Eclipse tied to Moonfire/Sunfire? It would make a lot more sense. It would play a lot more intuitively.
ST: Open with Moonfire, which puts you in Solar Eclipse, now wrath, wrath, wrath…
AoE: Open with Sunfire, which puts you in Lunar Eclipse, now Starfire, Starfire, Starfire…
Spenders and Cooldowns when appropriate.
But no. I have to waste a bunch of gcd’s to cast spells completely opposite of what I need to be doing in order to cast the spells I need to cast more effectively.
