Why Didn't Renzik get a Voice Actor?

It’s really throwing me off. Every other main goblin character has voice acted lines, but Renzik doesn’t. Everyone else is speaking, but Renzik is just text bubbles.

What’s the deal? Did they forget to record his lines or summat?

It is kinda weird

Not even like generic goblin voice actor, just nothing

People suspect it is due to the actor strike, but he also doesn’t have any VA in any dub language either. So it may actually be a bug

Blizz also forgot Renzik’s background.

In the short story they released not too long ago, he mentions how his parents were killed when he was a kid and he didn’t have any family left.

In the Undermine(d) campaign, chapter 1, after we bomb the pipes with ice, and are about to head down to the Undermine, Gazlow and Renzik discuss why they left the Undermine. Renzik mentions how he left behind family to escape the awfulness of the city.

What family? They’re all dead.

Honestly, if you think the missing voice of ONE npc is tragic, then you should brace yourselves for the future.

Since the 20th Anniversary patch we’ve had ALL new npcs being completely mute in Castillian Spanish.

Since Jan 2024 no more dubbing has been recorded as Spain’s voice actors requested a new contract clause which would protect their voices from being used to train AI, which Microsoft does not want. So Undermine is the third content update with no voices in npc or cinematics.

Neither MS nor Blizzard have bothered to even provide an official statement of what is going on, deliverying a product with poor quality standards whilst their clients are still paying a monthly fee subscription.

Utter shame!

If they were all silent, it wouldn’t be jarring. The jarring part is that they recorded all of the characters except Renzik, so Alleria speaks, Gazlowe speaks, and then Renzik has a text bubble and no voice.

That’s why I found it noteworthy.

Good for them. I refuse to buy audiobooks recorded with AI voices (I have friends who do book narration and voice acting for a living). I fully support the silent treatment.

I commented on this particular one, however, because he sticks out as the only character without voiced lines.

Sheesh, really? Hearing stuff like this makes me want to finally get into the supplemental lore for WoW just so I don’t unwittingly look like an idiot for all the plotholes I’m missing.

That part does come up during the Campaign further in.

I’m going to have to replay the campaign to see it. I’m almost positive I’ve missed half of Renzik’s dialogue because I just forgot he was there since he wasn’t speaking while everyone else does.

Can you share what he said?

Renzik already had a voice actor during the now-removed Battle for Lordaeron. Anyone know who it is?

He speaks at 1:41.

I can’t quote it. He does reference something about “his mother would not be dead” I think. It was during the section in the Heaps, where you kill Zirdo.

Somewhere around here in the quest line.

It was part of a response or dialogue after quest turn in. I think.

Why is Reznik such a big part of the campaign, for this major update but doesn’t have a voice actor?

I have to say, its awful hearing one character having their lines voice acted having a conversation with another character, and they reply by text without voice. It completely ruins the other characters voice acting and makes it pointless.

Really dropped the ball on this one.

God this is completely killing my immersion. How can you have a main character with no voice lines but he has a conversation with people who do? This is terrible.

Yeah it feels like I’m playing a game with Mods and they didn’t put a voice with the Modded companion.

It’s really distracting, and I never know what Reznik has said because I’m listening to everyone else and don’t bother to read the text. Heck, I’ll dub his lines for free! I’ll make him sound like a goblin version of Butcher from the Boys though, because that would be funny.

Just get Matthias Shaw’s voice actor to voice him.

Joe Ochman voiced him in BfA according to IMDB. He’s listed in the credits for TWW as well, so he’s done at least some work for the expansion, though not necessarily for Renzik.

Agree completely. This is very disorienting and annoying. Big fail on Blizzard’s part. Who in Blizz QC thought this would be okay?

That questline, while not focusing on Renzik, literally is about found family. He could have found new family members since, or distant cousins. Characters aren’t stagnant.

Perhaps he was referring to the kids he looked after?
