That’s me… I’m going to buy it anyway so why not now. Plus now when I open the launcher I see Dragonflight not Shadowlands and it reminds me we are closing in on the end of my least favorite expansion.
I would like to buy it, but one I just don’t have funds for it right now. with everything going up, we have less available to spend. So, at some point I likely will.
Also, I’m really not in a rush to buy it anyways, because we’ll just get it and then play for a week and then we’ll see all the new goodies and then it will be raid raid raid for the next two years and I’ll have nothing to do anyways. lol… so no rush here to go out and get the new shiny.
Technically not yet, I have placed a 30 dollar deposit on a collectors edition at the ‘local’ store so to speak.
I got to remember if that means I can buy the online big version and then just get that refunded to battle.net for use on other products down the line when I put my CE version in.
I’m a big proponent of being honest with yourself.
I LOVE WoW. I have disliked certain expansions (WoD and SL the most), and even stepped away for several months a few times, but I have consistently played WoW for the last ~16 or so years.
Both groomsmen in my wedding are people I played WoW with for years (yes, one is my cousin, but we still have thousands of hours of playtime accrued) - the other didn’t even live in America. He flew down from Canada. Also on the subject of my wedding, there were two other close friends there, who flew down, also that I only know because of WoW.
My office is COVERED in WoW paraphernalia. WoW is such an important and integral part of my life, there is no way I’m not buying an expansion unless I straight up quit the game. So what difference, to me, does it make if I preorder it, or buy it after release?
All you’re accomplishing by not preordering it is missing out on timed exclusives. If you’re going to play the next expansion, and you can afford it, preordering is an absolutely fine thing to do - especially with all the tangible stuff you get.
You feed the same one no matter when you buy. You’re giving them the same amount of money, only at a different time.
So you’ve never played the game? You have to pay for it before you get access to see the new content. You always pay first. Whether it’s the day of, the day before, or 6 months in advance, you pay before you see the content.
But keep that razor’s edge sharp, little buddy.
I’m in the same boat. Plus I can’t tell if the preorder pets are getting FOMOed or if they’re going up on the shop later on, so I played it safe.
I don’t think any pre-order stuff has ever become not-purchasable… but anything is possible.
I have always preordered the epic pack since day one. I’m not going to break my streak now.
I will preorder, but I don’t have much faith given that it appears Blizz is rushing the expansion again. They have so much potential in their plans for expansions, but when the bean counters / execs push for unrealistic launch deadlines…
I went ahead and bought heroic edition. I really like the mount and the pets.
Also cuz, with my pathetic income I gotta start saving for winter holiday gifts starting next month. Gettiing pre order now freed up a bit. And I like to be 100% sure that for launch,I’m fully ready to just log in and go.
Not pre-ordering is about making sure they earn your money and not letting them think they have us wrapped around their finger. We saw this with Warcraft Refunded; it is literally known at this point that content was cut because they had the preorder sales and they didn’t see it as a long term money maker so they made financial cuts to maximize profits. It’s a perfect example to showcase how smart financial decisions can be anti-consumer.
Pre-ordering used to be a necessary thing because you needed the physical copy to play the game, but not anymore. Pre-ordering is about showing your support for the company more than anything these days so it ultimately boils down to whether or not you’re support of the direction Blizzard is going. If you’re a WoW fanboy and love the game and can’t see yourself taking a break, etc…I guess then fine. I find this somewhat hard to believe given all the bad PR about Blizzard, but if you still love their product to pieces and want all those goodies as soon as possible then it is what it is. I’d still advocate that even if you know you want the game to wait as long as possible.
I generally don’t believe in preordering anymore across the board. I would only preorder games from companies that I have respect for, and Blizzard certainly isn’t one of them for a variety of reasons. Maybe I’m just older and wiser, but their monetization practices just seem more and more nefarious across the board, especially with Diablo Immortal. Most anything they do these days does not seem to be in the interest of their players, but for whatever makes them the most money. People say “Oh well they’re a company and they need to make money” as if that’s justification for practices that I would argue are anti-consumer, but fine you’re technically right. That being said you attract more flies with honey than vinegar.
If you avoid all forums about WoW, all social media about WoW, and all negativity about the game and JUST PLAY IT, you’ll find it’s still a fantastic game. To that end, I absolutely am preordering (waiting for Friday payday).
My relationship with WoW is my own, and I don’t need people telling me how to play the game or what I’m supposed to be mad about.
I think the biggest issue with the internet is that it gave a voice to immature people. That voice has become a monster, and it influences the opinions of the weak, creating more monsters.
Diablo Immortal was made (by a different company) for financial whales. Let that money funnel into Blizzard, which hopefully is used on other blizzard projects, like WoW, to make all their games better. It has no negative impact on WoW or Diablo IV that I can think of.
And now people are going nuts because “Dragonflight is releasing too soon” as if they know wtf that means being they don’t work for blizzard and don’t know their development time table. Just take it at face value. Let’s see what happens. Your voice will not make them develop it faster or better.
My advice to players is to get off the forums and just enjoy the game. And if you don’t enjoy it, just move on and come back to it later after they’ve made some changes.
Taking my own advice and logging in. Ciao for now!!
Yes, I preordered the epic edition.
I’m not pre-ordering anything until I see some actual content. Screenshots and wall art don’t do it for me. Until I see some actual footage, I’m of the impression there’s nothing there. At this point, they really don’t have to put a lot of effort into the main expansions, because people will just play classic if they get tired of retail. I hope I’m wrong, but if they’re releasing both a retail and classic expansion within months of each, I don’t have high hopes about the retail quality.
For me it is 50/50, I can’t decide if I want to pre-buy the game or not.
I have always bought the game as fast it lands in shop, but this time I don’t want to hand them money before they show us more of the product. I don’t have that amount of trust in blizzard anymore.
But I will probably cave and buy the epic package soon!
I don’t really want to pay $50+ for something I can’t play until January, so No.
I get the impression that some folks might be pre-ordering the higher tiers just so they can have the extra stuff now. I’ve already seen a few green leafy dragon mounts parked in high-traffic areas by people pretty obviously just sitting there showing them off.
I personally will be waiting. There’s no hurry for me at the moment.
Wait a min. You can buy the expansion with gold?
Yup! Buy tokens off the AH for gold and convert to bnet balance.
Right now the price of tokens is high at 220k, so if you buy 6 of them (or 7, depending on tax), that should cover an epic edition, for roughly 1.5mil gold.
