The kul tirans don’t share skeletons or models with any other race though. So they’re not the counterpart to any race then?

Getting an allied race that ruins your image is worse than an allied race that is literally just different arms and legs.
not if its not based on a skeleton of an existing playable race. kul’tirans are sort of… well there’s a theory they are the basis for horde ogres later on. so maybe they will be used themselves as an AR skeleton for ogres, later. they’re odd man out for some reason. that seems the most likely. all the other ARs are based on the skeletons of an existing playable race

But the image ship sailed with long flowing gold locks of blood elves, meanwhile the excitement for vulpera continues to ramp as we draw closer to 8.3 - while mechagnomes basically are only relevant if someone starts discussing vulpera.

Part of me felt like KT’s were worked off of Pandaren to some extent. But yeah Vulpera were from the get-go. It has higher interest ''believe it or not" despite what the few loud forum people say… and it’s why they were done over Ogres. Blizz knows it will drive interest up.
Real Reason?
Blizzard isn’t going to add Ogres as an allied race, even the Higher Quality ones like the Kul Tirans and Zandalari don’t require as much work as Ogres do in order to do them Justice. Ogres are a race I want more then any other, but they’re also a race that will take more effort then blizzard wants to add.
Basically, Ogres should have been playable a while ago, as i doubt popularity has anything to do with what races get added (Looking at mechagnomes here), it’s entirely how much effort blizzard feels like putting into it.
Ogres are likely in the “Full Race addition” camp

Actually I’d bet you that ogres may never happen and they’ll use mok’nathal in their place. Kinda how folk suspect vrykul won’t be a thing cause of KT.
I think Ogres will come eventually, but it doesn’t make sense for this expansion. maybe the one after Shadowlands.

Because ogres are cool in theory but niche as hell when it comes to a player base that VASTLY prefers slim pretty elves to any other race. Followed by heroic humans and slutty Draenei.
An ugly fat ogre is going to be played by 0.001% of the population.
Countering that? A LOT of people loved zootopia…

because no one would feasibly play Ogres. you all say you would play them but how many people combined actually play Pandaren/Tauren/Kul Tiran with their bigger models?
that and the allied races are based off of currently existing playable races whereas Ogres do not share the same model or skeleton as any of them.

Allied races are fanfics. Ogres aren’t, they should be a proper race.
The Horde eats gnomes and now The Alliance eats Vulpera. It’s now even. (no one wanted to eat the Goblins, considering where they lived.)
