Why did we get Vulpera over Ogres?

Ogres have been involved with the Horde since Warcraft 2.
Vulpera are some random race in a couple of questlines in one zone.

Why are we on allied race #5 with not a hint of Ogres?

Ogres don’t deserve to be wasted on an Allied Race slot. If they ever happen, they should be a proper, non-unlockable Race.

Personally way more happy about Vulpera than I ever would be of Ogres. Not really a big fan of the ‘ogre’ concept and wouldn’t play it. However, that doesn’t mean others wouldn’t, same with Vulpera of course. Just because we got Vulpera doesn’t mean we won’t get ogres, in fact they could be a strong contender due to Mah’gar.

Speaking of which, it being an allied race at some point is still possible. Never know, and continuing to ask for them is a good idea, considering they want feedback of races right now. Granted, saying “We should have got ‘this’ over ‘this’” isn’t the best of plans, as they’re not going to just remove races because some prefer one over another.

I must have missed the big ogre storyline in Zandalar.

We did get Ogres, as an NPC accessory race of the Mag’har. As for why we got Vulpera
they are effectively the Goblin AR for all respects and purposes (and their assets were already pretty much devoted to them VERY early in the expansion). Its less like Blizz is just throwing out “Races” and more like they’re just giving offset groups for each CORE race. IMO the SW Humans and the Forsaken are the only two remaining CORES (outside of Pandas) that dont have one.

  • NightElves: Nightborne (Horde Alligned)
  • Dwarves: Dark Iron Dwarves
  • Gnomes: MechaGnomes
  • Draenei: Lightforged Draenei
  • Worgen: Kul Tirans (they are the GILNEAN AR due to their Human lineage)
  • Orcs: Mag’har Orcs
  • Trolls: Zandalari Trolls
  • Tauren: Highmountain Tauren
  • Sin’dorei: Ren’dorei (Alliance Alligned)
  • Bilgewater: Vulpera (The Alternative was Kelfin, NOT Ogres)

EDIT: As a side note, I am unclear as to just how much OGRES have been involved in the “New Horde”. They certainly had a presence in the Orcish Hordes of the First and Second Wars, but they’ve alway seemed rather antagonistic to Thrall’s vision of the Faction.

Vulpera are more relevant than ogres right now and they’ve been really highly requested. Makes the most sense in the current context. Ogres haven’t done much of anything lately.

Because Horde needed a cute furry friend to soften up their image.

Also, so us Ali can point and laugh at something. It’s been a while since we smiled.

cough You can laugh at the furry fox people, but im pretty sure they are laughing harder at your robocop gnomes.

Given the reception of Blood Elves, it makes sense they took a softer option in terms of race. Vulpera appear more relevant to the current plot.

Why do you think they wasted all that time making the Kul Tiran rig? For the Alliance? :joy:

You’re getting ogres, don’t worry. Just be patient, they’re not going to give the Horde everything it wants all at the same time, they have to space it out so it’s not so obvious.

We’ll see how many new gnomes are running around SW, vs how many furries are in Org.

Kul Tirans arent the Worgen AR.

I still don’t understand why furries are relevant in any sort of way when it comes to vulperas. What about worgens or taurens? Or pandas? Hell, some people would even consider draeneis as furry too.

Vulpera have greater player desire.

Ogres would be as played as Kul Titans.

what would be the Big guy for the Alliance?
Alola Kul Tiran?

How so? Genn effectively serves the same narrative purpose on Kul TIras as Rokhan did on Zandalar. The Kul Tiran HUMAN lineage stems from Gilnean sailors; who then mixed with Drust. The WORGEN aren’t really even a race (as the upcoming GILNEAN Heritage Questline seems to imply). Nor do the Worgen have a SINGLE positive relationship with ANY of the relatively small roster of other races that rely on their rigs.

From all indications, the Kul Tiran people STEM from Gilneans
which means they have that shared lineage and thus shared history. My money is on the Kul Tirans being the GILNEAN AR, rather than the SW Human AR.

the alliance allied races are in general much better than the horde ones. but you guys got velves instead of helves so ofc the sky is falling. :expressionless:

Not 2008 anymore. Ugly, Spikey, Edgy, Monster themes don’t sell as well as cute deviant art bait races.
