I’d love to know where you’re getting this “fail” from and I hope it’s not from the forums. I can’t handle a laugh that hard.
There is way too much trash in Torghast, and the floors are too long.
Torghast would have been best as 6 bosses Per layer with intricate Mechanics and very little trash
Easy. potd wasn’t needed to do content. It 100% side content. At most it used for blue mage grinding which is a different job altogether. potd is also fun (with right group).
Well, what do you expect? The current version of Torghast was made 3 weeks before the expansion launched.
No you don’t. I got my 235 leggo and I haven’t been bac since except for TC. I see no reason why I need more soul ash.
Probably because there is no loot.
So why do it? Fun? Ok, but for my class/spec, its really boring. The special abilities are just so dull.
Something less extraneous than what we got.
Didn’t gear drop from mobs in the place during the early stages of beta?
Well dh only needs one leggo if you play vengeance. I played havoc and had to craft chaos theory, darkglare and the fel devastation one. Once I realized no meaningful changes to havoc I switched to war. Had to do Torghast all over again for 3 legendaries.
I would have tried it because it was there. I wouldn’t grind it though.
I haven’t done TC. It’s good to main a druid.
everyone that thinks potd is only for leveling alts hasn’t solo’d to floor 200 yet.
I have no clue about anything from FF14 but there’s a few reasons why Torghast is disliked

Mandatory grind for Soul Ash - This would of been better received if you could get Soul Ash from other sources and Torghast was just the most efficient way to do.

Pacing is terrible - Normal Torghast doesn’t get fun until floor 5. Everything before that feels like a slog. Floor 1 and Floor 3 should start out with 5 anima powers each

Twisting Corridors feels pointless - TC is meant to the “challenge mode” of this expansion but the rewards are awful and forgettable. In the past either difficult content like this gave you unique cosmetics or powerful gear like 5 mask visions. But TC gives you neither and honestly the reward does not match the time investment for most players
You can’t level in Torghast and it doesn’t have enough variety in enemies. Also Palace and Heaven aren’t intertwined with the main progression of the game.

Palace you can walk in 100% naked, because your strength builds the more time you spend in it. So gear does not matter.
It’s a great source of XP to level, and you can start I think at level 10.
There are a lot of rewards. Mounts, mog, hair style unlocks, pets, consumables.
Most of those items you can sell on the ah, so you can level, collect and make gold at the same time.
Palace is not mandatory for player power at all. It’s just an optional area to play.
Choreghast doesn’t even compare to PotD.
If they sprinkled in tons of cosmetics, toys, pets, mounts, HAIRSTYLES?! People would mob that place like crazy. They would also complain constantly that the thing they were farming never dropped but eh. If torghast was more rewarding and less of a boring grey slog I would probably force myself to do it. I’m still hoping for soloable island expeditions so I can farm all the pets I never got because I refused to touch that content when it was current.
PotD in FF14 is for leveling. Completely different beast.
That said, I like Torghast.
Because PoD is fun! PoD gives rewards every run. PoD can be part of the leveling experience. I for one, am very disappointed in Torghast. In my mind I was thinking, oh they’re trying to do something like Palace of the Dead, this should be fun. Boy was I ever wrong. If you’re going to try and do something like your competitor, do it better, not worse.

I wouldn’t necessarily call POTD/HoH “fun”. Being able to level alts in POTD is only valuable because FFXIV lacks the robust alt-leveling system of WoW. In FFXIV, you can’t re-do a lot of the quests you did on your first class, because…you’re the same character. So they HAD to come up with a grindable, repeatable solution that didn’t involve roaming around murderballing FATEs (which was the old “solution”).
That said, opening prize bags at the end of a POTD run is fun. Torg should add that.

Torghast has failed due to lengevity of it.

once you have the legendaries you want/need, you have zero incentive to ever run it again.
if Blizz provided rewards that were transferrable to other aspects of the game, either cosmetics or power, maybe it’ll be better received. But right now, it’s a finite experience that becomes very very repetitive.
Because solo Torghast is AWFUL on every spec other than melee…
Also it’s not even close to a rogue like experience. Every run ends up with the same build.
