They could have let you declare your pronouns in the character creation screen but that would take them more work. Instead Blizzard was lazy and we just get body type.
They could have pronouns work like titles and let you place them before your characters. Basically Blizzard hamfistedly tried to bring WoW up to modernity.
Not only that but we only got two new realms and one was a Pve. Lol 15$ a month gets us so much… Seems like they don’t care about their classic player base. We are just an afterthought.
Not trolling. I respect any effort at diversity, inclusion, etc. but they removed options from the player while keeping the world around largely the same even if they gave more room for identity.
body type is great. They could have went further and let you choose pronouns. However they have titles like king or prince arthas for instance but won’t let people who identify as male or female declare their gender. It’s baffling. Doing so does not remove the rights of non binary people at all. Blizzard could have made everyone happy.
It more than likely takes work and a fair amount of time. I feel bad for defending Blizzard on this, but they would need to scroll through every line of text and dialogue to make the correct changes.
In any realistic stance, Blizzard will just make incremental changes if they legit care about trans rights. It would never be a focus, nor should it, as the resource cost would affect the overall player base negatively, and god knows they need all hands to even make a semi-functioning LFG tool, after already making multiple other LFG tools.
I would love to see more done, but I doubt it’ll be soon.
I think I may understand this. Boomer take here. It’s because of body shape and not the whole pronoun thing. Men can look like women and women like men. Heck I know men who say they are men who have a female body shape. So this isn’t a he/she/it/they thing. It’s a people can be lots of different shapes.
King and prince are titles are not pronouns either and can be used unisexually in the parlance of our time
Because tweaking the character create UI is a far smaller task than entirely changing how titles work or adding on an entirely new system.
Classic is quite literally marketed as an extra free bonus for paying $15/month for retail. If you expected them to bend over backwards outside of whatever the bare minimum they can do to milk the classic playerbase… well I’ve got a bridge I’d love to sell you
