Not that this is the most efficient way to make gold, but I made 60k just buying mats for Feasts and selling them.
It literally doesnt matter how my gear got to 0%. Thats just what ended up bringing the excessive repair costs to light for me. Having your gear reach 80% and repairing immediately 5 times would result in the same cost so whats the point of analyzing why my gear was at 0%? This thread isnt about cost saving. Its not about gold farming. Its about how doing the end game content does not reward you with enough gold passively to afford repairs.
The gulf in understanding seems to be that after 20 years of this being the case most people have found ways to make it not really matter.
Why Did it Just Cost 2.2k to Repair My Gear?
If thats the case Im glad Im not really playing a lot due to burnout right now.
The second I saw that kind of repair bill I think Id go back to old content entirely.
I think the point there is that if you are dying so much, maybe thatâs the problem. Not the repair cost mechanic. Die less, pay less to repair gear.
2k io, never done past a +7, never raided this season.
You wouldnt know. You dont play the game for anything past rewards.
Yep, Iâm only a mid level player, if that. Not enuf time to even do a LFR.
Still doesnât change my statement. IF you are dying so much. Dying less would give you a smaller repair bill does it not?
So your thoughts are irrelevant. Ty for clearing that up.
They are just thoughts. But cutting out half the post because you want to cherry pick comments is a really bad habit to get into and does your arguements or position no good at all.
If you googled me last week I wasnât even at 2k io. And I"m not sure what you play the game for but exactly what else am I doing stuff if not for rewards?
Ladies⌠ladiesâŚ
Youâre both pretty!.. just not as pretty as me.
Bah, I donât look pretty. I look Fabulous!
There is a way to avoid most gear damage. In your WoD garrison you need a level 2 blacksmith building with the follower Rukan assigned to it. Talking to Rukan will give you a buff that negates all gear damage. This buff lasts until you die or 4 hours of playtime. The buff persists through logouts as well.
Of course it only cost 300g to repair in BFA, that was 7 years ago. There has been 2 expansions inbetween then and now that had higher repair costs than BFA did.
Before you use this against me, questing greens in TWW cost more to repair than the endgame gear of BFA.
Oh wow, does this still work in TWW? Or just in WoD?
Part of the repair formula is based on gear power or ilvl. TWW greens > Nyo raid gear.
I know, but someone already tried to explain it that way to OP and OP didnât understand, I thought comparing it to something that isnât endgame might help.
Ah xD
I just tabâd back into that quote so I guess I missed the context. But it did lead me to the repair forumla.
Durability points to be repaired * (ilevel - 32.5) * 0.025 silver
This game was never about jumping in, doing 1 activity, and being self-sufficient.
I know many players who only come in to make M+. And their economy is very complicated, they either end up borrowing gold or buying tokens. They donât want to do any activity other than M+ and the game is not designed like that. I do M+ but I also do other activities that finance the expenses of M+, raid, etc. - I have never bought a token. In case you have less than 1000 gold, I think you have to rethink something. If you donât do quests, donât have professions, donât collect anything, donât fish, donât sell anything⌠even try to sell carries.
Or dance naked in the Dornogal fountain. You have to do something
I tried the whole do nothing approach in MoP, even back then it didnât work. Lost count of how many times I had to vendor my offspec gear just to repair my tank gear.
None of my characters are millionaires, or even close, but man, just by goofing off in this game you earn enough gold to pay for repairs/tmogs. I spend WAY more on tmogs than 2.2k
