Why did Blizzard screw up M+ so much?

M+ was an excellent addition to the game though.
The issues lie in implementation of the M+ system, unfortunately.

I’m not trying to beat a dead horse, but I feel like the following would be a major improvement on this current season/iteration:

  1. Challenger’s Peril removed, better kiss/curse affix implemented
    (5s death punishment is enough)

  2. Keys no longer downrank unless chosen
(This would help a lot of PuGs, help to combat toxicity. Someone leaves? Repost it. Didn’t beat the timer? Try again, same key, same level.)

  3. Ability to trade keys for any equal key-level dungeon
(Group keeps getting a dungeon no one has a need for? Trade it out freely!)

  4. Ability to choose affix from current season rotation.
( Would help alleviate meta comps imho. Melee heavy comps are rough right now)

  5. Removal of both fortified and tyrannical, all mobs still experience key % modifiers
( Would help create ‘wells’ for players to congregate )

  6. Currency reward from M+ for trade-in (i.e. bullion)
( Having fun on that 32nd run for Sacbrood? )

I can dream, can’t I?

  1. Yes
  2. Yes
  3. No other wise it would just turn into everyone spams the easy one and good luck ever getting the one or 2 hard dungeons
  4. ehhhh no, random nature in that is fine.
  5. potentially
  6. mmmm i would be fine with it so long as it took a proper amount, and if anything i would say each m+ needs a specific currency for its loot table, that way you cant just spam the easier M+ to buy an item from teh hardest one, and you have to do something like trade an item in for it.

Slap a weekly lockout on each dungeon and you could get a lot of the things you’re asking for.

Therein lies the beauty of 3.

People have the choice to run any dungeon they desire.
Is it the quickest dungeon?
Easiest?
Most fun?

Could easily take metrics from the most played dungeon as a baseline as to what to prepare new M+ content in future seasons.

Better question is why do players who do the minimum in terms of content difficulty expect or feel entitled to the most powerful gear?

It’s just a ton of crying until blizzard inevitably makes everything basically free.

I agree with pretty much all of these answers, and with respect to the last one, the dungeon loot protection or whatever, just treat it like the tier tokens are treated. But instead of weeks, make it number of dungeon runs. Run a certain dungeon say 50 times, get a guarantee on the loot drop you want. Or whatever the valid # is. But just have after a certain # of times running that dungeon you unlock a token for that dungeon, and you take it to a vendor for that dungeon, and you can select an item.

It’s not free loot per se, it’s rewarded based on volume, but it’s a way to ensure that EVENTUALLY you can get that item. And maybe you get it at 1/x this way, so if you do get it, you have to build it up, but who cares.

That way we get ever more homogenized dungeons as time goes on?

They’d have to aim for there to be very little difference in any of the dungeons to ever find a rotation that was close to equally played.

You have a point, but it would ultimately be in the devs hands to take those metrics and make them useful and meaningful.

I certainly hope they wouldn’t homogenize a season into a copy/paste/repeat of the same dungeon, and would instead take that information to create something better.

I feel like they pretty much fixed it when they made gilded crests available at 8. Heroic gear was already easier than ever to get because delves. 8s are easy enough in 619 gear. Gilded crests allow us to upgrade hero gear to 626, at which point 9s and 10s become very doable. I’m not elite (just ask my guild mates lol), but I’ve got two portals already, and expect to have have 3 mythic options in vault this week.

Cause they hate it and that’s what they do to things they hate, like any good parent.

Hated PvP, now look at it all full of PvP
Now they hate mythics.
I heard a rumor next they are going to hate the log in screen.

They already did this with the window-portal thing on the login screen, and the whole character select nonsense.

Well now, that’s ironic.

Because they were mad that potentially more casual people had access to mythic track gear.

This annoyed the most elite of the community and the developers, so they decided to make a more bottlenecked system that essentially kills the pug aspect of dungeon running.

They never liked it though since legion, everything they have done around these AOE caps, and such have been to curb mythic plus just pulling a lot of mobs or anything that is remotely fun in the game.

When the participation tanks its possible, they may revert some of the changes. They should of left it how it was in DF season 3.

I am extremely burned out from filling my vaults with 10s. I hate the current difficulty. They should either lower max vault to 8 or 9, or nerf 10s to be more in line with the later DF seasons. They increased difficulty in too many ways at the same time. I can do 10s, but don’t enjoy them with the current tuning. I still need 3 more for 3 myth vault slots this week and I’m not even sure I can force myself to do that because it’s so unfun.

Ask the the team, they seem to hold back ilvls with difficulty, i guess they havent figured out in 20 years that if it too hard people are not gonna do it

So you want dungeons to be completely irrelevant 2 days into an expansion. Okay.

Probably going by the charts a lot of people have seen.

DF S1 started out with more people and declined faster than S3 where S3 later on held higher participation than S1.

DF S3 had the most unique characters by far which seems to indicate it was the most alt friendly season:

TWW just seems to have started with less interest and was dropping steadily for the first 3 weeks.

You guys can have challenge mode with a leaderboard back with a M+ style format.

Most players won’t do challenging content if it doesn’t reward gear.

Exactly my point! They don’t want hard content at all they just care about the gear.

Welcome to the real fight.
