The various private servers over the years have experimented and rolled out the various patches to mimic the vanilla patch release cycles and the same thing happened, raids were smashed within hours of opening.
Blizzard have made blue posts and showed screenshot proof showing no difference between their internal vanilla 1.12 build and the 1.13 classic client in numbers in response to people during beta claiming that something or some mob was undertuned, and in reality turned out people’s memories were wrong and/or were based off private server experience/numbers.
Devs of Nostralius/Elysium and Light’s Hope private servers have clarified over the years that their tuning/numbers are estimates/guesses based on videos and screenshots available, and for instances where they can’t verify (no video, screenshots, or data exist), those are just assumed (their best guess/estimate, leaning toward overtuning).
Google is your friend, you can google any one of these points and verify these points from the sources.
It is just amazing that that is the case. I guess things really don’t live forever on the internet.
I have to assume that for BC and up, even if Blizz lost everything, some of the millions of combat logs people uploaded to sites like worldoflogs would survive.
Have you cleared MC and Onyxia yet? Why worry about what others have done, especially when most of them are essentially professional WoW players logging 12-15hours of play per day?
If possible i would have liked to experience it all the way it was from the start in 2004. Meaning every patch. this patch is from 2006. I guess they don’t have the ability to do it exactly like that though.
1.12 is only marginally easier than any other point in vanillas history. it’s not so different that it would make a significant differences on the overall experience.
the new raid meta a month from now will probably be 20-30 pugs.
game wasn’t hard back in the day though, just a bunch of baddies running around having to be carried.
Molten Core and Onyxia is a bit different than “raids”. I doubt 55s are clearing AQ or Naxx unless they are getting carried. Though I would love to see if someone could.
The experience is accurate. Game knowledge and player skill has drastically increased over the years. People know what gear to get, how to get it, and what stats matter. 40 players was overkill in vanilla for MC, claiming that it’s somehow an unauthentic classic experience because of how trivial the content is today is just demonstrating ignorance of the original game.
As far as I remember MC was easy, Onyxia was easy, ZG20 and AQ20 was also easy. And my guild had never been to BWL at the time. It was the players, their computers and internet connections that made it hard.
