The game isn’t deflated, it’s just not inflated yet
The ratings you hit late last season were only possible after months of inflation. Every single week, Blizzard gives the player +10 MMR or whatever it is now for free.
Why is there an MMR hard cap?
I’m not sure there still is, but theoretically, because if there wasn’t, a legion of Demon Hunters would have hit 3.5k in the first week and stopped Qing after it was nerfed.
Why is there MMR inflation?
So when people play busted classes week 1 and get high ratings, they can’t just camp that rating to get titles. People who actually queue later in the season will overtake them thanks to inflation. Also, to gently help players get rewards they couldn’t previously.
Why do you feel bad?
Because you got no DOG in you, son. You just found out you need 20+ whatever weeks of inflation to hit whatever ratings you’re used to and then GAVE UP. You need to change your mentality. We don’t have to go through Rank 1s to get 1800, they have to go through us
I think there are issues with the system. MMR could be better seeded. Most rewards shouldn’t be tied to rating, they should be tied to participation, or else most people just won’t queue until late in the season when they know it’s easier. But the idea that Blizzard should just never reset mmr and let it roll until 1500 players are getting Glad mounts just ain’t it, chief.
They need to start it a lil bit higher than what it resets to currently… and have less ramp through the season. Would encourage more people to play earlier in the season. Might bring more of us 1500 players back to arena.
Nah blizz already give up. We are to be funneled into classic or SoD, the easier version of WoW. Leave retail to the pros.
That made me chuckle, picturing a year from now, in the war within, all of the rank1 players fighting to get there end of season elite mog. As the last few thousand players still queing, all remembering how nice it was to only have 40 min shuffle ques.
that is why most pro players want. they have almost exclusively called for and/or supported things that harm the casual playerbase.
According to a VenrukixHolinka interview from Shadowlands, 1500 is the week 1 starting point. So your average player is 1500 mmr. Every week they add 10 mmr to it. So by week 10, your average player is at 1600 mmr.
Maybe the values have changed by now, but I think a lot of people need to stop demanding free rating. Free rewards? Fine. I’m with you. Unlock cool armor for matches won at any rating - good idea. Free rating? Won’t solve much, because then the people who can’t hit X rating will complain and ask for more inflation over and over again.
It’s up to 20 now, starting whenever they specify, like week 5 last season. The initial bonus also seemed to be 80, so week 5 or 6 they pushed everybody up by 100 mmr.
Over the course of the week, mind you, which is why sometimes you’ll go 3-3 for 0 pts then a couple days later go 3-3 for, like +5 cr.
but this isn’t true anymore this xpac because they hard capped mmr until they magicly start adding it again

Knowing Blizzard they 100% added it back since it took 4 weeks for 1 person to hit 2.4 in 3s and the AWC/multi r1 players normally get glad first week they cant even get 2.4
Or it’s lonely at the top and there’s just virtually no one queuing in that mmr, so it’s taking ages for R1s to actually climb.
not a single person in EU is 2.4 most have 70% winrate with 100-180 games played
