After much investigation into the ongoings of WoW cluster involving Whitemane; I have found how the business works.
Putting together deductive reasoning, and the logic of actions, I have found how dark the market really is.
User buys Gold
Boost Phase - Gold gathering by boosters
GDKP Phase - Each guild or Pug will have sellers in these groups; which consists about 2 or 3 per guild. These sellers are assigned to guilds in which they partake and push GDKPs.
When it comes time for bidding, normal items that wouldnt go for much are inflated by large bid buys; these numbers are inflated, unlike a normal GDKP that would be run say in OG WOW.
This builds a sense of FOMO with normal users, because there are extremely minimal guilds that want to run Reserves/DKP/ Roll type raids, so the only way they can progress is by buying gold, and its gated in that aspect by the same individuals that sell gold at all levels.
They set the prices through what they bid with, and the normal players follow suit, but they keep things below AQ 40 at a reasonable price.
Most AQ 40 GDKPs and Naxx GDKPS want players to pay in the thousands.
So inevitably, these players are not only making profit USD from boosting, they are literally… treating Raids and Drops as if you were to go to the store and pick out a new outfit, but much worse… because they are also bidding against you in this outfit to make it the price that keeps their market values high.
This is no longer a GDKP type system - Blizzard
This is now a Jordan Belfort driven market and scam setup; that you are allowing on your own servers.
The funny thing is (and this is a guess) I bet 80% of them just raid log… I mean they dont have enough time to play so they buy gear and get something for doing nothing. lol
Spend all that money just to not play the toon. LOL
So, you’re suggesting that the ones running the raid are gold sellers and are artificially increasing the value of the items by bidding? And what happens when no one bids higher on the item and they win? They lose money. You’re wrong. If GDKPs are prevalent it’s because that is what people want. If it wasn’t, they wouldn’t be.
That is how most of the raiders I have ever played with are… Makes me wonder why they even play in the first place.
The best part of ERA IMO is the leveling and the world PVP / BG’s…
Raiding and Dungeons are there for loot for PVP, and honestly I think that’s how the game was designed. PVE only zugs are kidding themselves if its any other way…
Look at literally every class in WoW up until Legion patch 7.0, were the bulk of your abilities were flat out ignored for PVE use and nearly all abilities are valuable in some capacity in PVP.
IMO WoW was a PVP game with PVE stapled on, but some how the PVE became the focus, and that was the mistake.
I should specify that I play Classic Era on one of the smaller clusters, the 5-realm PvP East. It doesn’t recieve any free transfers so its culture will naturally be quite different from realms that do.
I love to play my toon and just go around and cause trouble. Scare the hell out of lowbies, help lowbies and kill gankers. I can bgs all day long. Then before raid try to get wbuffs and farm for gold for consumables. Spec for PvE and as soon as its over respec for PvP. lol
