Why Cap AQ Raids?

Idk why blizzard keeps capping how many people can go to a raid. No one asked for it. Main raid we have 20-22 players but I’ve joined random BWL pugs with 25-30 and its surprisingly fun. Its more pug friendly and its full of people laughing and having a good time. They keep taking away things that no one asked for. Tired of the blizzard SOD team making the dumbest decisions.

I’m really hoping this is reverted, too. We’ve had most of our raiders that quit in ST come back over the course of P4/P5, they’re still trickling back. We’re up to 28 people now and the we’re going to have to start cutting our friends that we just wanted to casually do this stuff with us

I like playing with my friends

I agree. I dont think the Blizzard SOD team understands that majority of the player base doesnt care if people bring 20-40 players. They are clueless.

Who said they’re capping them? The official announcement says 10+ and 20+. I understand that the PTR is currently capped, but you’d have to be a complete idiot to think that will be how the live raids work on release.

The Blue Post that just detailed the phase explicitely states that AQ 20 is now 10-15 players, AQ 40 is 20-25 players, Dragons are 20-25 players

well i stand corrected. carry on.

Don’t worry folks!

Blizzard will remove the caps in a month or two…after more people quit.

((Because this is the horsepoo they do EVERY.SINGLE.EXPANSION. Remember Covenants? They were suppose to be semi-permanent choices for Shadowlands. Few months before the final patch they reversed that decision. AFTER THE PLAYER COUNT HAD ALREADY FALLEN OFF A CLIFF.))

I would like to hear the reasoning behind this. I highly doubt we will be giving anything compelling though.

My group has been keeping at 25 players, but there is no reason to not allow other groups to fill what they need not just for performance but for keeping people together especially as the usual AQ dropoff is about to happen along with the horribly timed fresh launch.

Legit, it’s because of the “Don’t Die Too Much” mechanic. Which means the total number of times you can die and still get ‘bonus loot’ is probably around 40.

…a full wipe would basically mean you get nothing but “base loot”.

My guild is in the same boat. Flexing from 25-30 on any given raid. This change hurts more than it helps.

Well the Devs should be made to wear clown shoes if this is the reason.

I think this is partially the reason, as well as the new scarab mount rewards for completing hard mode. They don’t want you to waltz in there with 40 people and faceroll a scarab mount.

Even if that is true it should be the decision of the raids that bring 20-40. If you’re running with 25+ are you really playing for loot? Id say no. More so to hang with the friends youve made. Maybe AQ 40 the first week will have a lot of deaths but after that i guarantee the 25+ Raid teams will stomp the fights like they do in BWL.

Of all the things people complain about in SoD, I have never heard/read anyone complain about flex raiding.

There isn’t even anyone bad faith arguing in favor of lowering the cap, does that not say it all?

Why change it now?

Yeah. Idk why the love messing up.

there has to be some sort of cap at some point, every version of wow had caps.

Even with the flex raid it was still capped at 40 people, what if my guild has 50 raiders?

25 is reasonable and makes it so the content isnt completely trivialized

Your whataboutism aside, it isn’t reasonable when precedent was set with opening up MC to 40m along with BWL.
