Sucks for ranged hunters that they just flat out cant use the 4 PvP illusions. Even wands can have illusions now, and some guns have been able to in the past, dunno why they dont allow it even if it would take some work to fix.
I just wish this thread would grow and grow until someone from Blizzard notices and says, “Oops… sorry about that guys. Brain fart. We’ll get it hot fixed on an upcoming Tuesday.”
Part of the issue was how to get them to work on some ranged weapons. Guns weren’t usually that difficult. Bows and crossbows were. They didn’t know where to put the enchant: on the string, at the ends, on the bow itself, etc.
Something about it just wasn’t working correctly when they tried to do it during Warlords and they just scrapped it.
I think they gave up too soon on this then. For bows in particular, just center the illusion somewhere on the center of the bow. It’ll look fine. And if it doesn’t, then the player can choose to not use that particular illusion on that particular bow.
Simple.
And whenever there’s a Blizzard Q&A, I always forget to show up and ask Ion this very question. Maybe next Q&A I’ll remember.
Bumping this again because…why not!
Thank you. Now I can like some awkwardly old posts and see if we get some commentary on how that makes them feel
Why not make it so the arrows or bullets that it shoots become enchanted rather than the weapon itself? Kind of like the lightning arrows from the Legion artifact techbow.
I really hope blizz adds Illusion xmogs to ranged weapons. I wish there was a way to get them to address this. Like this is the whole reason i never play my hunter/quit playing wow for a long time. I think it would make alot of fans/new players excited to play.
You want to get their attention? Point and case BLIZZARD I just spent over 120 AUD pre puchasing shadowlands. One of the inclusions being “Wraithchill cosmetic weapon effect”, now if you are going to sell a product at least address the fact that it may or may not work on all items. This is blatant disregard for the consumer rights! Either state the fact it doesn’t work for ranged weapons/offhands/shields ect. or better yet seeing as the player base managed to apply enchants onto various ranged weapons through a glitch (I do not condone glitching) back in legion (ie Wolfslayer Sniper Rifle) meaning it can be done and its not a coding complication. If they don’t want to make previous illusions available to ranged weapons as they were intended for melee weapons at least make an exception for the exclusive Epic Edition illusion ( Wraithchill cosmetic weapon effect). This is a recurring thread for as long as I can remember and I have been playing since vanilla and it has always been an issue for me personally not to mention that in my opinion hunter armor has always been subpar in comparison to other classes (also the fact the only other mail wearers are shaman) at least allow our weapons to be transmogged properly like every other class! This has neglect towards hunters is tiring and Im waiting for some BLUE TEXT to arrive! I would like to see a disclaimer placed on the Epic Edition immediately and also a reason from a GM as to why this oversight that has been in the game since 2005 has yet to be addressed?
I see your fiery and raise you a Flames of Ragnaros.
More useless hunter tames that never get used because pet abilities are what they are or some development time for weapon illusions? Maybe even quivers? Yea I know where my vote goes. Give me the illusions.
OP here. As a reminder, I was able to somehow jinx an illusion onto my Wolfslayer Sniper back in Legion and it worked and looked fine. For some reason Blizz patched this in BfA and we’ve been without ever since.
IT. MAKES. NO. SENSE.
Bring it back for Shadowlands, please.
just jumping on to add my vote for illusions on ranged weapons.
Agree, it makes no sense that we can’t.
So I found out today that with the pre-patch, wands can be transmogged to daggers, swords, 1H maces, and daggers. Thanks, Blizz. It’s almost like it’s personal. I wonder if us bow, rifle, and crossbow users have done something to personally offend Blizz developers.
Why on Earth is it so hard to let us apply illusions to our ranged weapons? It’s completely nonsensical.
Has Blizzard ever commented on this topic anywhere?
spaghetti code
And, again, I managed to finagle an illusion on my rifle back in Legion. There’s literally no reason illusions can’t be on rifles.
Add one more hunter voice to this. GIVE US OPTIONS.
Gonna keep this thread up in the desperate hope that someone, anyone, at Blizz sees it and comments. We need us some blue posts on this.
