I wish. I have PTSD from how many times I did the Korthia campaign on my alts. I have done ZM twice so far, and I don’t think I can do it again lol
In my case and sure many other cases, having to do the grind again is what destroys the replayability. Being able to explore and master other classes and specs is what creates replayability, not grinding rep for the 2nd, 3rd, 4th … times.
And killing rares being the main source of rep doesn’t even offer that.
Join 20 people beating down a boss. No skill…faceroll.
Only a hunter can screw this up with growl on pet. and either the boss is still dying…or the pets takes a massive hit and dies and now the tank is going yay…the hunter pet is not messing this up. so nice…
I can only speak for myself.
I’m a lifer, been subbed since the beginning.
I’d play a lot more.
Renown and covenants were the worst implemented systems they’ve done in a good long time, and that’s saying something considering the terrible systems that riddled BFA.
I really liked the idea of covenants at the start, but the campaigns are something I want them to get away from. Make them and put them in the game sure; but if we’ve done them already…leave us alone with it.
I think covenants would have been much better if, everything was account wide. The soul binds, conduits, everything. Having to level the renown and quest line so many times has really made it a mess. I did the night fae quests so many times, I was really contemplating un-subbing and just play something else and never come back. It was that bad!!
Totally agreed OP. After all these years, the RP charade has worn off. Taking an entire month of everyday playing to earn something should be recognized and respected. Flying and the unity are nice, but what about conduits? I’m not grinding another month to level my alts conduits to 239. If my alt doesn’t feel complete, I’m not going to play it.
Over all I’m going to play less and eventually unsub until a month or 2 before 10.0. This happens every expac
I like the FF14 solution the best. Let you play all classes on a single character, but if you want you can still make alts and start the grind over. Best of both worlds.
I hate the F word, but you’re absolutely right. They did that correctly.
There is no reason we CAN’T have account wide rep. At least no reasonable legitimate reason to not have it. Blizzard simply doesn’t want to implement it yet or ever. The gating through rep limits serves no real purpose.
The only “difficult” part of it would be having to limit how many times you could do the base line quests with a faction to get the starting rep on different toons. Certain introduction quest lines would have to be completion shared as well to prevent someone from spamming the same quest on ten alts rather than whatever grind Blizzard intends.
lol Um, there’s some pretty obvious glaring issues with account wide rep, none of them having anything to do with metrics.
Unity is account wide, if your main has it, your mage has it.
Soulbinds are account-wide. And you only have to do the covenants campaigns once on your account.
I think a point that hasn’t been said is that in many cases in the past few expansions player power is locked behind rep grinds. That was never the case before. That’s why reps feel mandatory now. Divorce player power from rep and you have killed 2 birds with one stone.
Blizz did a decent job of revamping that in ZM. Once you’ve maxed out a character with cyphers and gotten the Unity memory, cypher research is nearly instant and unity is available to all toons. Plus you can now complete all the chapters in a couple of hours of playtime–no waiting for resets. Still not perfect, imho, since I would rather just get the double leggo on alts upon talking to Bolvar when that alt first arrives in ZM (or better offer to skip all the chapters).
Give us back the choice to do content on alts. Locking player power behind rep forces us to do those activities ad nauseum on every alt instead of letting us play the game the way we choose.
