Jumped on my mage and was going to get it in a shape to raid with, since my main is locked and have done my 1 millionth run of M+ and don’t care for PVP. I have even done much of ZM and just bored.
So, here is my problem. My mage is a patch behind in gear and when I got to ZM and thought of the month long grind to be able to put the Unity legendary in the slot I want, have to do the 7 chapters again to get the belt. Have to get gear, but can’t get 252 since not revered (see month long grind) and then need to level my Necrolord, since that is covenant of choice from level 40 and so much more, I just logged out.
This has gone on long enough! With more and more being locked behind rep and story lines, we need to be able to play another character without starting completely over. There is 0 reason to not make rep account wide, well except it might cut play time in WoW, but would argue it would extend it.
After I am done with my 20 minutes worth of dailies, I want to do something and without a viable alt, there isn’t a lot for me to do. Yes, I know there are mounts, pets etc, but not into that. I enjoy raiding and M+, but can only raid each difficulty once per week and mythic raid with a specific group.
Let us be able to play other characters and enjoy them. Shadowlands has done some good things towards alt friendly, but ultimately the issue has gotten so much worse. Give us account wide rep, that would handle 80% of the issue with alts. Also, might want to allow us to FULLY skip the story line after done on one character, not just the intro.

Unity legendary memory should be already unlocked for your alt. So while you can’t get the free belt, you can make it in whichever slot you want.

If not account bound rep they could just BOA rep based items. A char got revered/exalted. Yay! for them. They buy, mail off and alt gets in. and life is so much better.

I would love that, but they’ll never do it.
Just giving us account wide flying took several expansions of the devs, specifically Ion digging in his heels like a child and saying no.

WHy the potential dragon expac is going to be a wth is this moment potentially.
An expac about dragon who can fly. We cannot. And then the apologists will wonder why this confuses us. As we look at out mount collection of like dragons.
Hey WRA faction/red dragon flight. I’d like to return this red dragon mount from wrath. It stopped working. It doesn’t fly. Fix it or refund me.
And some of us actually like having “/played metrics” or as I would call it, replayable content that isn’t just dungeons.

Yep. I enjoy doing this stuff too but people want wow to be an instanced content simulator and tell everyone else “shut up casual content guy” when ever we remind them that they’d be taking content away from us to make t easier for their 13th alt to jump right into keys or whatever.

I beg to differ. Many many people like myself refuse to play alts anymore because of the endless grinds like reputation. I would in fact play far more with account wide reputation. One time story unlocks, etc to grind out gear and transmogs on alts.
Instead I refuse and I typically unsub every patch after about 8 weeks once I’ve maxed my main out in terms of m+ gear and score.
I personally vote for this because it would give me a lot more to do with alts but mentally I refuse to grind the same grinds over and over that I’ve already completed.
The game should focus more on account wide progress rather than character progress. Until it does I will continue to unsub each patch once my main is geared out and I’m bored.

Issue for many is reruns don’t change.
The game is neither race or class aware at this point. No lines change, no resultes change. its the same stuff.
See this weekend I took a small break. Rested xp build up on the tbcc leveler and just wanted to xbox couch chill play for a break.
Dishonored 2 called to me. Dishonored said you can play me twice at least and things change. Be sneaky…low chaos.
Play it like Doom…high chaos. Let the blood flow…games says well you seem to like killing targets. Here are more targets. and a new ending. for ya.
And that’s jsut as corvo. Make it 4 runs now as you make Emily be a very nice sneaky girl. Or…she reclaims her throne in a blood bath.
I enjoy replaying content as much as anyone. Regrinding rep on every character is not content though friend.

I feel you’re operating from incorrect information. It doesn’t take a month to get through the storyline. I knocked it out in a few hours including stopping to kill rares. I busted through friendly and got honored in nothing flat, I didn’t need revered to equip anything. Finishing the story allows me to equip the 2nd lego.
Not to mention every time you blink, burp or fart in game, you get renown. Running all the lfr’s will get you 10. Doing dailys and callings gets it and it’s getting ramped. I did 40-80 in one day about 2 weeks ago.
If one toon has gotten unity, it’s in your loot list on the adventure guide. I got my 291 neck, my missives and the second I got the unity belt I hopped off the ledge and got my neck done and equipped.
Which is your choice. If you aren’t having fun then stop playing. I do sometimes and come back when something else catches my interest. Wow is just one game of many. You aren’t married to it. If it isn’t to your liking then don’t play for a while. Come back when you do feel like playing. That is totally normal.

Don’t get me wrong - I would love account wide rep myself.
I just said they’d never do it.
I also didn’t say that they had the right IDEA about /played metrics. There are I’m sure lots of people like you who would play more…but they aren’t looking at it the right way.
Would love account-wide rep, especially since I like going for the cosmetic items from quartermasters… stinks to have to farm an old rep multiple times because I want a weapon or armor xmog piece that my main, who has the rep, can’t equip.
With some of the other stuff becoming account-wide in more recent patches (covenant xmog, skips) and expansions (mounts/pets etc), I really hope that reputations are next on the table for account-wide credit. Maybe it’s just my hopeless collector optimism though.

If they gave a toggle that’d be one thing. But when they’ve introduced other account wide things they haven’t. It would literally be removing a ton of fun stuff for a group of people so they can not have to play at all except their tiny niche content they feel like doing. They don’t seem to realize how many skips exist atm to pass things they don’t feel like doing. They got their inch now are demanding miles.
Of course. Just don’t heckle people for trying to make the game better for everyone.
I mean if some people love masochism maybe blizz can make a check box so you can disable account wide rep.
I will say: I don’t think there is a good way to consolidate past reputations between all characters progress so I do think it is something that should just start with 10.0 reputations and beyond.
Because that would be fun…and we’re not allowed to have fun. I don’t know how people keep forgetting this.
