"Why can't we attract new players to stay and play WoW?"

Everybody also said that I was wrong with High Elves, the Pathfinder, and the Mage Tower before it came back. In the end, I was always right. What people don’t realize is that there is a big momentum going on, which can and will likely sway the developers. The official forums are not the only discussion platforms and if you look around, you’ll see an overall feeling how people think about these topics.

They will change their stance, if they like it or not. At one point they realize that several requests are going on for years and that they were clearly wrong, which only indicates that they are the problem and not the customers. And yes, there will always these people who mock others but in the end, it’s about persistence and not will power. It’s always the same story and I’m looking forward to the next things they are going to revert.

History repeats itself again and again. Look froward to it, it will happen sooner or later.

One of my biggest dislikes of Classic, is that it robbed retail of the chance to recover the game world we used to have. If Microsoft ever distances themselves from the mentality that is being professed by certain developers, I think they would do well to bring Classic WoW back in full by having a portal from the Caverns of Time to the Classic world.

Updated models and all that, but the world and rules itself (such as no flight) remain in effect. Races that for whatever reason didn’t exist or were not present in the lore then (such as Dracthyr) can easily be resolved with a illusion that makes them their visage or something.

In restoring the Classic Game world to retail, I would also reopen the original versions of every single dungeon and add them to a separate group finder slot for players who want a longer and more in depth dungeon run, like say Sunken Temple.

Same application on Classic era raids. Maybe even make those akin to the Duties from FFXIV. Runs that you have to do with groups in Raidfinder, but which drop currency you can trade for armor / mogs etc.

Now… we all know, that 40 man era Naxxramas would be the place that a lot of edgy mid-lifers would cry about, but this is one of those places I would have no issue saying.

“You had exclusivity for 20 years. Your at least 40 now. Grow up or move on.”

If Microsoft were to force the company to do something akin to above, I think it’d make the game population explode and not in a bad way either. More catering to roleplayers would probably also attract more people. The roleplayers are core. Why do I say that? They are the part of WoW that will be here long after the game enters maintenance mode.

That’s heartbreaking.

I agree. My old guild and RL ex-friends are playing WOTLK classic and refuse to even come back for Dragonflight lol. Bad move by Blizzard on dividing the playerbase.

I don’t understand people that pay for a game and come to the forums to complain and praise another game. Don’t get me wrong, everyone has a right to express their feelings. I’m just confused as to why pay for a game that you are not happy with and promote another game.

Customers complaining about a product that they pay a monthly fee for, who would have thought.

They had no choice. Classic servers ruled and took away many paying customers. Another classic situation where they thought they were right but in the end, they earned a lot of money through the relaunch of the older expansions.

Good point. I forgot about the unofficial servers I even played on them at one point. It should of been Vanilla only and they shouldn’t of continued releasing new classic expansions though so some players would come back to retail or they should of added a classic experience Chromie Time (like someone else mentioned) to the retail game.

The good thing going forward is the return of merchandise. I’m looking forward to MoP stuff, I need more Pandaren stuff in my life.

Don’t cherry pick. The gist of my comment was

I also said

Customers complaining about a product that they pay a monthly fee for and comparing the business model of one game to another game, who would have thought.

If you are unhappy with the business model of a game, don’t pay for it. Take your money elsewhere. Is that an easier break down of my earlier comment? If you get crappy service from any other business, do you go back? Or do you find a better business? Or is it Stockholm syndrome? Copium?

Complaining about the complaining, who would have thought.

If that’s your best reply to a legitimate question, then there is no sense in continuing this conversation.

Bruh, you came into the forum thread complaining about the complainers. It is what it is.

I think its cause wow looks like a phone game now

I don’t really remember this at all. In Wrath, if you weren’t zoom zoom’ing then people complaining. In Cata, prior to troll dungeons, and then with the release of the End Times dungeons, people complained if you took long post nerfs. Troll dungeons and launch Cata dungeons, were the only slow heroic dungeons I remember since TBC, and even then people weren’t overly nice in them.

The system is corrupted with dungeon merchants. The gate keeping helps to strengthen the sellers and make it close to impossible to get the type of play or the caliber of difficulty that should come with natural progression. I dont want to pay someone to use my toon to farm for me.
I work alot but while i have downtime i play wow classic and even on that model of the game you’ve taken out RDF system so its tuff to progress in classic as well. Open all versions of the game to everyone would help. Raids and dungeons on all difficulty settings should be in the RDF for simplicity and to stop the selling of runs that has infested the whole system. Random arena games as well would be ideally valuable to a player like myself who works to much to play all day. The value of myntime on the game is severely dimished in the games current state of play.

How do you know we can’t attract new players? People seem to be taking that for granted but what evidence is anyone seeing for this being true?

We’ve heard several people tell us of new players they’ve brought in and how they helped them get started.

Attract new players?

-free trial up to level 50 with few restrictions (no AH for example)
-a new player icon
-rewards for helping new players complete content first time (including in rdf)
-an explanation of the lore/state of the world in game.

Start there.
