Why cant I post website links in General Discussion?

I use to be able to post links to websites when I posted in General Discussion but now it won’t let me. Why? Also, in the upper right corner of my screen it has a big red “Subscribe Now” button but I have an active account. Have I been banned or something?

You most likely lost trust level 3, which you need to post those. The requirement to maintain that is over 100 days, and the stats will decay. Some people had a bug in the ir account where beta allowed access to TL3 longer then expected, that was fixed. You can find the examples of how TL work in general discussion forums.

I’ve been able to post links for many years thou

Some weeks back they were finally able to straighten out a forum software issue that was granting TL3 to some people without them having to do the requirements to maintain it.

Some people were able to continue posting as they had withheld the metrics required to keep TL3, but it seems you were slightly short of them as of 101 days ago.

Now you only show as Trust Level 2 (per your .json data - link below) and will need to regain Trust Level 3 status. The requirements were posted above.

Be aware you will see more in the .json data than others since it is your character.

Thanks but I cannot read that link at all - it looks like gibberish to me.

Basically, there’s a bit in there that indicates your trust level. There’s no real need to decipher it – it’s just a location where it can be sussed out.

My apologies for not providing more insight into what it will show. Yes, a lot of it is gibberish looking as it is data from the forum software (Discourse) relating to what specific permissions each poster has on the Forums. It will also show more data relevant to your computer and connection when viewed by the player whose character data is displayed.

If you just do a browser search (CTRL-F) and type

trust_level_

it will highlight all instances of that phrase on the page. The one with the highest number at the end is your current level.

Thank you for clarifying that. I suppose someone at the company may have lowered my trust level if they didn’t like what I was saying. I have been a contributor to the forums for 18 years, so it’s suspect why my privileges were revoked. I guess its time to stop sharing :smirk:

Trust lvls decay over time not some vendetta against you.

You can lose TL3 if you have a penalty, but you can gain it back after 6 months. No one at Blizzard would have dropped your TL out of spite however. From the description, your inactivity would have lowered it, but again you can bring it back up. Keep reading topics. Don’t read like 6000 today, those will decay after 100 days. Take little bites, not big feasts.

An account action automatically blocks tier 3 for 6 months.

The requirements also decay.

At the moment, you are about 260 short on topics viewed.

About 17k short on posts read.

Sure, if they didn’t like it to the point of a suspension, yes, that loses TL3 (and even that eventually expires). But as others have mentioned, many of us received TL3 from beta. It allowed us to post links to help with bug reports and forum communication for testing. This should have been removed after beta, but due to a recently fixed bug, never was. Once you work back to TL3, and maintain it, your ability to post links will return.

** EDIT: I should have noticed Orlyia was typing, lol.

You’re welcome.

Best of luck in regaining your Trust Level 3.
