I see this alot being broadcast in Draenor and BFA zones.
For new players this would be confusing as to why. Not sure what wow can do to guide new players on how to fly in these zones.

There are achievements that listâŚwhat other achievements you have to get in order to fly. Not exactly a comprehensive guide, but it does point you in the right direction.
OP is probably right⌠Blizz could do a better job telling you how to get flight.
That said, the info is available. A simple Google Search should get you instructions on what you need to do to fly.
Players shouldnât have to do that. Information needs to be put into the game better. Just wait until people get confused what corruptions are not on the vendor once the 8th corruption selection ends (hint the schedule is random). Theyâll have to depend upon outside sources. Which is not great.
Thinly Veiled Pathfinder Thread GO!
Because you arenât an Eagle. If you were, you could fly like one.
It is ironic that the majority of the playerbase voted for no flight back in Draenor but a small vocal crowd got us pathfinder and now continue to whine and cry about it.
If Ion had any sense he would just strip flight altogether and let us move on.
Blizz does seem to do an abysmal job of explaining things to new players.
Hell they do a terrible job of explaining things to older players. Iâve been playing since the end of Cata and even I have to use Google on what feels like a weekly basis to figure stuff out.
They could always ask someone flying around. Someone asked me the other day how I got âwingsâ (The Wrathion trink) so I pointed him in the right direction and sent him on his way.
If someone asked âhey, how are you flying?â Iâd do the same.
Iâd pay $20 dollars to unlock flying.
Pathfinder will no longer be required for these zones come Shadowlands.
Nobody voted for anything. There was not a single poll about the subject.
WoD was a mess. At the very beginning, they said there wasnât going to be flying ââright awayââ, they talked about adding a meaningful questline to unlock it somewhere down the line, like 6.1 or so.
Then they turned around and said âweâre not going to have flying at all, sorryâ. Then, after months of forum outrage, they conceded to the pathfinder compromise for 6.2. Except it wasnât even ready when 6.2 shipped, and came partway into it.
It was actually about 3 weeks between âno flying going forwardâ and the announcement about pathfinder. Apart from that, the rest of your post seems to be pretty close to the mark.
I distinctly remember it being longer, but it was also like 5 years ago and itâs hard to remember exact forum outrages from back then because there was a lot
New Players need to be told that WoW is meant to be played with Wowhead open on your second monitor at all times.
Regardless, Pathfinder is going a way in SL so itâs all moot.
I donât think that I can share links so I will describe them instead. The original announcement for no flying was in an interview Ion had with Polygon dated 22 May 2015. The announcement of Pathfinder was 10 June 2015 according to an article on BlizzardWatch from the same day. According to Wowpedia, the achievement was released on 23 June 2015 as part of patch 6.2.0, but flying in Draenor was not enabled until 1 September 2015 as part of patch 6.2.5.
If Blizz wants new players to stick around Blizz will have to bend the knee.
New players can ask old players what to do.
Iâve stopped playing for 2 days because Iâm so tired of doing âThe Cycle Of Lifeâ and âBeachheadâ, and âCalligraphyâ, over and over again. The only Tortollan Seekers WQ that gives me a bit of pleasure is âShell Gameâ. The others, I am so sick of. And Iâm doing this because I need the rep, so I can continue my progress toward Pathfinder in BfA. I did the Legion Pathfinder achievement, and now still have to grind rep for Tortollan Seekers, Waveblade Ankoans, and Rustbolt Resistance. This is NO FUN. This is a DRAG. It feels like work - worse, work for which I donât get paid. Iâm paying Blizzard to do work. Iâm a casual player, and I resent Pathfinder to the core of my being. And Iâve been playing since just shortly after initial release of the game.
End of rant.
Players didnât vote for anything. Ion was the reason they tried to remove flight. The reason pathfinder exists is because of spite after having to go back on it after having doubled down so many times. You and your friends arenât the majority.
If you press Y in-game, you will see the achievements tab, and from there, please search for âpathfinderâ. The things that come up allow flight. I hope this helps!
If youâd like to track the objectives, you can shift-click the achievements.
Flying in every zone but the Battle for Azeroth (the most recent) zones will no longer require pathfinder upon the release of Shadowlands.
