Why cant I buy a crossbow from the Venthyr?

Hello,

On my level 60 beast master hunter I have a Mystic Anima Spherule (currency) but Lord Afanas in Sinfall will NOT sell me a crossbow. Why? When I try to buy the crossbow all it tells me is “you do not have required item for that purchase” but Im looking at the currency (Mystic Anima Spherule) in my bag. What am I missing here?

NOTE: I’ve already looked on WowHead and its no help.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Are you at the right difficulty vendor? There’s one for lfr, normal, heroic, and mythic.

Carefully read the description of the item and match it up.

How do I know which vendor is what?
This is my hunter by the way, in case looking at her helps

The NPC in Sinfall that I’m trying to buy it from has the name " Lord Afanas -Normal Nathrian Weaponsmith".

I dont usually raid (unless its for a WQ) , I dont PVP, or do mythic dungeons - if any of that helps.

Did you get the token from a normal raid or from lfr that you queued for? Sounds like you need to go to the looking for raid vendor if it’s not working on the normal one.

if you got it from raid finder, go see

I’m not sure where I got it from. I’m only in a raid group to do world quests occasionally. I found Solivane and it will sell me one of the two crossbows, but not the good one that I want - I have no idea why.

Because your token is for a specific level of gear. If you want the higher level of gear, then you need to earn that type of token. Did you recently finish your covenant campaign? If I recall, that awards a token that can be used to get a weapon, but it’s not the highest level weapons.

I’ve been level 60 for weeks. Just today I was thinning out my bags and found the currency. Also, on the vendor the currency is the same for both range weapons so its very confusing. If the other bow requires more, or a different currency it should say so,

Yes, but did you recently finish your covenant campaign (finish all parts of it) as that grants you a token for a specific level.

The fact that your token doesn’t work for it is a clear sign that it’s the wrong one. The higher level gear requires completing higher level content.

If that’s the case then it should be clearly stated. Its frustrating for players when there is no clue as to why you cant purchase something. If I need more tokens it should tell me how many tokens (it does not), if I need a different token it should be clear. Otherwise I wouldn’t be here asking people.

The Mystic Anima Spherule has an item level associated with it. That item level determines what you can buy. You can only buy weapon that has the same item level as your Spherule.

Assuming you got it from completing your covenant; you can only use it buy an item level 187 weapon.

Edit to add: You’ll likely need to talk to Solivane, not Afanas, to be able to use your token (again assuming it’s the one from completing your covenant)

Looking at this:

What does the item level say on yours? Right underneath the purple text?

You probably got it from the end of the convenant campaign, which means that it is level 187 and LFR. You’ll need to look on the vendor labelled for LFR.

The currency is for 2 seperate weapons for each level of content, the token from huntsman gives a polearm and one bow, and the token from Sire will give you the slightly higher item level version. If you look at the Spherule, it clearly will start the respective item level. If you want for example the Mythic version, then you need to complete Mythic level Raiding.

Others have already hit the nail on the head here but I just wanted to confirm -

The version you received is the Raid Finder version which can be used on the Raid Finder NPC (Solivane).

Each covenant will have a separate NPC for the various difficulties.
