No sense in arguing with the staunch supporters of the current system, they aren’t receptive to counter arguments.
Crafting will never be an end game pillar if tier is a gate keeper for major slots. It also further imbalances the crafts because tailoring and LW can ONLY provide embellishments or off tier slots, maybe a single major slot to min/max some stats. Inscription isn’t doing well right now. Engineering is an afterthought. JC s1 and BS have been insanely lucrative crafts this xpac because the value of a weapon outweighs gear that can’t access tier.
They stated they want crafting to be an end game option and rewarding endeavor. Build a road map to powerful rewards into then. Because right now there is little to no reason for me to bother with LW even though I kept up with it all xpac and I’m only lagging behind a few points excluding early exploits.
It’s about 15k just to make the enchanting crests on my server. Some of the LW recipes still cost almost 5-8k in mats and it’s one of the cheaper crafts. 5 +16s, 2 weeks for the spark, and 20-45k gold for mats, finding a crafter to provide good quality or recipe, plus a week for a catalyst charge AFTER it releases seem like enough hurdles to throw in front of one tier piece…
…my belt, bracers, rings, weapon, and soon chest will all be 447 crafted pieces. How is that not an endgame pillar? You can craft a 447 of almost every slot within the first week of an alt hitting max level right now.
and 2 of those can be incredibly impactful embellishments. Anyone who says crafting isnt end game is outright wrong. I have 7 bis pieces from crafting on this very moment
What’s sad is I’m learning more about how this works on youtube and from forum posts like yours then the game itself. Oh blizzard you never fail to confuse me
I’d imagine there was complications with keeping M+/Raid/PvP upgrade-able and with tertiary stats while also limiting the same thing for Crafted pieces given that teir pieces have set stats and crafted gear allows you to change the stats.
If they allowed it would probably be hard-set on whatever ilvl the crafted piece went in as without the ability to change it and losing the spark on the piece regardless, I can imagine why they’d design it against that.
Not really relevant when talking about stats like that, since when changing to tier, it doesn’t matter if you randomly let the craft get the stats or set your preferred ones.
When you convert to tier it becomes the tier piece with the stats it was assigned to.
Crafted gear has lower potential than gear that can be gotten in the vault or on the bosses/instance. Since crafted gear can’t proc speed or leech or avoidance as opposed to other gear.
The gear you can buy with the tokens from Time Rifts can also be converted, I believe.
I think there are two factors at play in regard to crafted gear and the catalyst:
First being that they want to keep at least a minor factor of luck involved (ie, getting a token or loot to drop).
Second, that making crafted gear convertible would require making the system more complicated to handle interactions with sparks and crests (to determine what item, level, appearance, and upgrade track) it converts to, and ensuring that any data tied to embellishments, missives, PvP boosts, and “Unique” restrictions get properly removed from the item.
That’s great if it’s the case, I said at the beginning of the season it didn’t make sense no vendor item could be converted when the 2 previous iteration of the catalyst had them.
Wait, you thought you could get tier bonuses on belts, bracers, cloak, and boots in SL? Guess I shouldn’t be surprised you’re back failing at the catalyst again.
Yes, but each piece of gear converted keep the extras, the “extras” for crafted gear is the ability to change the stats / ilvl / embellishments. Hence I said I’d imagine there was complications and fixes weren’t simple nor easy, especially if people assumed they would be able to convert a 424 shadow-flame crafted piece in the assumption they’d be able to upgrade to 447 later on.
Its a bit of a rabbit hole if you want to keep everything given that
I do not believe its done for balance reasons, I’d imagine it more technical reasons why they can’t.
I haven’t crafted a main piece before, so how tf would i know?
There is also NO mention on the crafted gear in-game that it can’t be catalyzed.
If there were i wouldn’t have wasted sparks, aspects and gold… essentially time and hard work.
No, i knew they couldn’t but the wording was shoddy on Blizz’s post so i assumed people would make that mistake.
Guess what happened? A lot of players wasted their charges and came to the forums to complain.
Well that’s the way the catalyst works, it keeps extra stats, so there shouldn’t be an issue with embellishments.
The other functionality of switching stats to a preset for the piece is already present too.
It is possible in the end, but i don’t think it’s that complicated to resolve.
