I wasn’t aware that crafted 447 pieces can’t be made into tier gear… and i made 3 slots (chest, legplates and shoulders).
Any reason for why they can’t be?
Also, i guess making a ticket would be useless… right?
Or can the GM’s refund me the spark and aspect crests for 2 of them?
Edit: After looking through the Customer Support similar tickets made… they can’t refund sparks for crafted gear, sadly.
But i still don’t understand why the crafted gear can’t be turned into tier pieces with the catalyst. I don’t think there is any reason to not allow them to be transformed.
Because catalyst charges are timegated and you still have to farm all those aspect crests I honestly can’t think of a good reason why not.
You’d also have to make a difficult choice between a tier item and a max (or near max) ilevel weapon early in the season.
I ran a ton of raids, ran halls of infusion like 80 times and never got my tier hat so I could swap to my proper embellishments. I only finally got it yesterday by praying to the vault gods. So it would’ve been nice if I could’ve just crafted one this whole time and as bad luck protection.
They also don’t let you convert random gear like the weekly Researchers under fire items which is champion gear but I think the Zaqali elder’s champion items can? I believe the Fyrakk veteran rewards can as well. Hard to keep track because it’s a mess IMO.
oof and you’ll never get back those shadowflame things either… ALWAYS Craft cloak, feet, bracers, weapons, rings, rest isnt worth unless its a BIS for ya
As far as i knew only low lvl stuff(outdoor gear) couldn’t be made into tier.
I didn’t even imagine that high ilvl crafted gear had such a restriction.
Also there is no warning on those crafted pieces that they can’t be catalyzed.
Besides wasting the sparks… i’ve spent a lot of gold for 2 useless pieces.
With sparks being gated I can’t think of a good reason. We’re just at the point where someone could farm up enough to craft a 4 piece. It would also only serve as a catch up for Alts.
I hope they’re going to reconsider, so crafting major slots and specializing into them is rewarding.
What would be the point of tier gear, if everyone could get it within the week or two of the patch? If that were the case, just make the bonuses baseline and forget tier entirely.
Sparks - it takes 2 weeks for 1 spark, since you get half a spark per week. (unless you waste your vault for 1 half of spark)
I already have 5 slots of tier gear, what i can’t is upgrade their ilvl, because the crafted gear can’t be converted. Meaning that i can’t use them or i lose the set bonus.
So i’m able to use the chest pieces and still have the tier bonus, but i can’t use the shoulders or legplates due to losing it…
Catalyst doesn’t open until later in Season, and only slowly charges - it isn’t like someone could just go craft a 4 pc set the first week and convert it to tier.
Also crafted is restricted by sparks, also throttled weekly.
Lastly, some of the easy outdoor event stuff like Fyraak as well as the new Time Rift stuff can be used in the catalyst, so it seems silly higher level items cannot simply because they were crafted (even though they require two BOP items to craft - one of which drives the ilvl and can only be obtained in harder content for the top ilvls).
Both the Catalyst and Great Vault are bad luck protections - it gives you another chance to get a loot or tier piece if they won’t drop for you or you lose a roll for the item.
Someone replied that catalyst charges are bad luck protection, you asked what bad luck protection and I was telling you why the Catalyst is a bad luck protection.
As for your topic, if crafted gear can be catalyzed, then there won’t be any reason to grind content for tier or pieces to catalyze to tier. That’s why.

It takes doing content to get crafted gear, those ASPECTS do not simply drop from the heavens. Your statement is false.
It takes 4 aspects shadowflame crests for 1 piece of gear, that means 60 fragments, which means if we were to calculate it into M+ instances, it would take between 5 successfully timed +16s or at least 12 unsuccesfully timed 16+ instances.
As far as i know that is doing content for 1 piece of crafted gear.
I do both m+ and raiding… i seriously cringe at these guys who like to gate people based on their content. It’s bad enough Blizz does it, we don’t need others bad behavior.
