Why can I create RANK 2 flasks and Potions using ONLY rank 1 materials?

What is the use for rank 2 materials, then?

Not even using concentration…

maybe this needs to be fixed? or is it intentional to have rank 2 materials = rank 1 materials? then why not just call them rank 1 materials?

as far as I am aware right now you cant craft rank 3 even substituting only ONE rank 2 material.

so why should you be able to craft rank 2 by subbing all for rank 1?

the reason why is the profession specializations and it dont need to be fixed it was like this with dragonfligh rank 1 mats can be use to make rank 3 products

If you have points in specializations, you can do it.

The rank of the items you make is literally based off the skills you have in the profession. Now as to why there is specifically 3 tiers to almost every item is a good question. Maybe the higher the tier level of said item helps some when you are “close” to being able to make the next rank? I have often wondered the process myself at times. I mean if my skill level for crafting / creating item says I can 2 / 3 star it then materials tier means nothing.

I think they have designed stuff around having to use Concentration

doesnt compute, theres no reason to have ranks to materials if you can craft r3 with any of them.

as far as I am aware right now you cant craft rank 3 even substituting only ONE rank 2 material.

so why should you be able to craft rank 2 by subbing all for rank 1?

do you think most people can do that today without blowing through all of their concentration?

being able to sub one material i can understand, but using all rank 1 to make rank 2 without conc is not intended.

Normally you can’t but if you spend your specialization points to improve your ability at something you get the benefit of being able to do more with less.

sure, subbing one or two max, but subbing everything? thats a KEKW

As far as I am aware, the tiered mats are just for quality sake.

Tier 3 mats give you a higher quality end product. Other than that… :dracthyr_shrug:

That’s a logical thought, but if my skill lvl says it’s going to be 3 star then even tier 1 mats make the 3 star item. of course the stars are meant for quality of said item. (bronze/silver/gold)

That is the benefit of spending your points to focus upon an area. For example I can not craft 2 star flasks with tier 1 mats but then I am not spec’ed for that. I spent my early points on Alchemical Mastery for easier experimentation.

Yea thats just a skill thing.
Skill and mat quality work together to make a higher end product.

But just like Irl. A skilled craftsman can make a high quality product out of low tier mats.

The point is, theres no use for rank 2 materials. because those who need them, wont be using them because they arent going to be able to compete with those who dont need them.

making rank 2 essentialy rank 1.

Expect your wrong, as I pointed out I can not craft anything other than level 1 flasks with 1 star mats but if I used 2 star mats…

At a sufficient skill level and specialization it is very much intended.

You seem to not grasp the professions in general, judging by how much ranting I’ve seen you doing today, though.

right, so you wont be crafting any rank 2 because youre not specialized in it, and since youre not specialized in it, it wont be profitable against someone who is.

Therfore, the person who is making them, will continue to use only rank 1. There is no use for rank 2.

No, I will be crafting my own stuff but I will not be using the base mats if I want better than the base consumables. And profitable is such a hard thing to decide, seeing I frequently gather tier 2 and 3 mats now. Meaning I have the higher mats to make up for my lack of specialization.

Then why cant you craft rank 3 at any point using even one sub of a rank 2?

in the current state, rank 2 materials WILL NOT BE USED unless they fall to the SAME PRICE as rank 1 materials.

Which defeats the purpose.
