I have multiple accounts on Benediction. I have had these accounts for almost a year.
Why can I make new chars on this server but I cannot transfer a char from another server? Aren’t these the same thing…?
Its frustrating not being able to transfer my alt char from a low pop server to my main server (benediction). I have accounts on benediction. transferring an already existing char is no different than making a new char. im so confused.
Because transferring takes a player away from a server that they are trying to not let die. It’s not rocket science, less people lvl a new char than would just buy a transfer or stay. Server stability. You know, real reasons.
This isn’t true. They measure “active players”. Not random alt chars that no one plays on.
I can’t play with my friends = im not going to be an active player on that server. Its not rocket science.
They addressed this on the community council boards a few months ago. The system is just not coded to be able to tell when pre-existing characters exist on a realm, or at least that’s what they say. As such, you can not move any characters to a locked realm, even if you have characters there. The system just sees ‘locked’ and so the transfer system will not work for that server. You can create a new character on that server because you have characters there already. Basically only reason you can’t transfer but can create is because you as a customer, already exist on Bene, and since the system is not coded to allow transfers to servers where you have pre-existing characters, the only way to allow this to happen would be to either completely recode the system (idk how long/hard/costly this would be,) which may be why Blizzard hasn’t done it, or they’d have to open the server up to transfers for everyone.
This is BS, wanna know how I know that? The system can tell if you have a pre-existing level 55 on the realm before you can create a Death Knight… Therefore, it should be able to tell if you have a character on the realm and let you transfer to it. Its blizzard just being lazy and completely uninvolved with classic.
If that is the case… They should higher GMs if it would be to costly to “recode” it and allow us to put in tickets for the transfer to be done manually by a GM which is 100% possible.
So you won’t. But 90 percent of people won’t leave and make a new char. Server stability is still a real reason. Just because you are salty about it doesn’t change that. What about the people on your server who don’t want to dogpile onto a locked mega server. They don’t count now ? That’s what I thought.
Not transferring takes away players too because I quit after realizing that I’m not allowed to play with my friends and I’m not interested in pugging for an entire expansion.
Pretty hard to get friends to join classic when the pitch is “Yeah there is classic, it’s a load of fun, no you can’t play with me or anybody else but you can do the same content alone with Brazilians since you didn’t get your account setup 10 months ago”
Might be entirely different systems. The character creation system might be designed to tell if you have a character of a certain level, but their transfer system (which I believe is connected to their shop, where as character creation system is not) may not be set up the same. Secondly, pretty sure DK level restrictions were taken away. This is why most bots you see are DK’s, because they sub, create a DK and start at 55. They then just bot their way to max, and keep botting afterwards. I’m not saying they’re telling the truth, just simply stating what they themselves have said. The system is not set up in a way that it can tell that pre-existing characters exist. Truth or lie, it doesn’t matter, it still yields the same results, you can’t transfer characters to locked servers, regardless if you have characters there or not.
I feel like hiring enough GM’s to do that manually would be more costly. There’d be hundreds, if not than thousands of people who want to transfer off lower pop servers, or servers where they are the losing faction. Hiring let’s say a dozen GM’s who’s sole purpose is to do transfers manually means they have to pay each person individually for hours of their time. Who knows how long it would take to do, might end up costing more than recoding/redesigning their system.
That may be, but the level requirement wasnt removed. What they did was made it so the first dk on any realm, you can create regardless. Any subsequent DK, will require a level 55 on the realm. Atleast thats how I understand it.
You really only need 1… I’m not sure many people have more than 1 DK on the same realm. Even if we say a lot of people have 2 on a single realm, they systems are set up differently. Transfers go through the shop, character creation does not. This is probably why (assuming they’re telling the truth,) that you can create on a realm where you have a character, but not transfer. The DK level restriction doesn’t mean too much here if the systems are set up differently.
The fact you felt the need to make it about race or language when in reality no one is forcing you to play on oceanic servers. Most people invested enough to lvl to max arnt going to just quit because they decided they wanted to move. You are the minority. Players created this problem by feeling the need to dogpile onto one or two servers. Live with the results.
which is funny. they have similar code to reuse here. the used to be pvp rule code.
does player have horde on faerlina?
if making transfer/new creation of alliance char then deny it
else…allow it.
make the pvp rule check code changes and it could now check for char on server for transfer.
since this is a bit of an oddity. a char creation or a transfer is still +1 horde/alliance anyway. but the player count is the same. Its still the one player.
Some would say well now you are taking 1 from another server. most likely players aren’t using them. their main is on say faerlina or benediction. they just want to take that alt to move since most likely they don’t want to remake 15K gold lol.
This has been bothering me for months now. I have two 80s I actively raid with on Grobbulus, as well as three 70s on Sulfuras that I don’t touch. I would love to be able to transfer those 70s onto Grobbulus, but obviously can’t. I don’t even care about leaving the servers locked, I think that’s a perfectly understandable position, but it doesn’t make sense that I can’t transfer those 70s onto a locked server that I already have 80s on.
I fear its dev ego and they are in the you will like our vision and love it. even if we have to force feed and hammer it into your skulls.
its a force feed to try and get 1 to 60 not dead. its not working, outside of JJ periods. As I see it anyway. hell even with JJ I had a 50ish hunter own tanaris for alliance. I was the only one there by what my eyes saw. and /who. so I claimed tanaris for teldrasil!
Horde I did see, but we aren’t pve friends yet. that comes in DF lol.
