Why Can Horde Unlock Both 8.3 Allied Races On Their Mains While Alliance Can't?

Someone tell me I’m misreading this nonsense:

Mechagnome Unlock Requirements: You will need to reach Exalted reputation standing with Rustbolt Resistance and earn the The Mechagonian Threat.

Vulpera Unlock Requirements: You must reach Exalted reputation standing with the Voldunai to unlock the Vulpera in Patch 8.3 and earn the Secrets in the Sands achievement.

So even if we wanted to play a Vulpera, Alliance need to level a Horde character first and grind out a whole separate Horde-only reputation to Exalted first… whereas Horde mains just get Mechagnomes handed to them for free if they played 8.2?

This is ridiculous. It’s like that one time where they wouldn’t let Horde unlock Kul Tirans unless we had an Alliance character to get the rep and do all those stupid Alliance campaign quests!

Of all the things to be concerned about right now, this one strikes me as fairly superfluous.

Technically not? Yes if you start a whole new character.
but if you switch your character that’s already done the storyline on Alliance are the reps will be moved over to the equivalent factions.

Um. Horde basically get an Alliance Allied Race handed to them if they played in 8.2… while Alliance need to spend weeks farming for the equivalent one on a Horde character to play it? No, I don’t find that superfluous at all… I find that extremely awful.

Let’s put it like this…

An Alliance player could unlock the Nightborne without ever doing any Nightborne content on their Horde alt.

Better? Even steven.

… that was fine because, at the same time, Horde unlocked Void Elves and Lightforged Draenei. These were all neutral factions in Legion. You’re talking apples and oranges to this.

I suppose you have me there. So the Horde has 1 extra race they don’t need to do anything on an Alliance alt to unlock. At the end of the day, I don’t consider this to be a big deal. It might even be intentional as a means to make it easier for Horde players to roll an Alliance AR, and attempt to address the imbalance between the factions.

They seem to already know not many are going to play mechagnome, but tons of Alliance are going to finally throw in the towel, i.e. more hours played.

This thread hurts me.

There wasn’t really a question regarding this. Adding Mechagnomes was never going to be any kind of major gain in the Alliance community. Even some dedicated gnome players aren’t interested in them, which is a sad commentary in and of itself.

Still, they needed to be added. We should be grateful Mechagnomes were an 8.3 reveal. Hopefully whatever ARs we see coming at Blizzcon will more than make up for it. I’m keeping my fingers crossed for Saberon, Wildhammers, and Helves.

I don’t even want to unlock mechagnomes. You see the mount?

Neat. So I already have both ready to unlock when the patch drops.

Hard game.

The question should be, what is the Alliance equivalent to the “Voldunai” reputation. Right now if a Horde faction changes, their reputations are carried over to the Alliance equivalent. So which is that for the Alliance?

You sparked my curiosity so I looked it up.

WHAT? That mount is awesome!!

Why are you mentioning vulpera/mechagnomes? I thought this concept works on all allied race…
And yes, it is pathetic… Maybe I would be interested in some of alliance character but I will NEVER make character that I wont play, just to grind some exalteds…

Horde confirmed the superior faction once again.

Cool, then the OPs complaint is kind of pointless. Thanks for the info!
